내란 수괴 혐의를 받는 윤석열 전 대통령에게는 법정 최고형 사형이 구형됐다.

2024년 12월 3일, 불과 6시간 만에 종료된 계엄이었지만 시대착오적 헌정 질서 파괴 시도에대한 엄중한 사법적 판단만을 남겨 놓게 되었고 사실상 마무리 국면에 진입한 것이다. 실질적으로는 2시간 만에 상황이 정리됐고, 단 한 명의 사상자도 없었다. 이 때문에 일각에서는 이를 ‘계몽령’이라 부르는, 웃지 못할 해프닝까지 나왔지만 사법부의 국민 눈 높이와 역사적 책임과 교훈에 부합하는 판결만이 남아 있게 된 것이다.

이제 윤석열의 계엄 내란은 이미 특검 수사를 거쳐 결심공판까지 끝난 역사적 뒤안 길로 접어들게 된 것이다. 내란사건은 사실상 마무리 국면에 들어선 것이다. 그런데도 더불어민주당은 또다시 이 사건을 끌어올리려 안간힘을 쓰고 있다. ‘내란 종합특검법’을 법사위에서 일방 처리하고, 오는 15일 본회의 상정을 예고했다.

그러나 지금 국민이 시급하게 원하는 특검은 이미 끝난 사건의 재탕이 아니라 통일교 게이트와 민주당 공천.비리 게이트 특검이라는 것은 삼척 동자도 알고  있다. 현재 진행 중인 권력형 비리에 대한 진상 규명은 다른 그 무엇보다 우선되는 것이 상식일 것이다.

그러나 정작 시급한 사안들은 민주당의 철저한 외면과 물타기로 방치돼 있다. 

• 국민적 공분을 사고 있는 ‘통일교 게이트’

• 공당의 뿌리를 뒤흔들고 있는 ‘민주당 공천 뇌물 게이트’

• 이재명 대표의 핵심 병기로 자처한 김병기 의원의 ‘전대미문적 파렴치 부패와 불법적 갑질등 총체적 범죄 의혹’

• 국민은 초장부터 수사의지가 없음을 온 국민에게 보여주며수사쇼를 통해 특검 수사를 애타게 하소연하는듯한 행태를 보이고 있다.

그런데도, 야당과 국민이 요구하는 이같은 중대 비리 특검에 대해 민주당은 입을 굳게 닫고 있다. 한 달 넘게 매일같이 의혹이 쏟아지는데도, 당사자에 대한 엄정한 조치는커녕 탈당을 애걸하고 있다. 자신들 윤리심판위 제명 결정 앞에서조차도 눈치만 보는 모습은 공당의 상식을 이미 벗어났다.

더 더욱 가관인 것은 민주당의 태도다. 박수현 대변인은 김병기 의원의 파렴치한 법적·윤리적 문제를 두고 “고도의 정무적 판단이 필요한 사안”이라고 했다. 이는 <김 의원의 일탈이 개인 차원이 아니라, 여권내 고도의 핵심부와 깊숙이 연결되어 있는 정무적 ,조직적 사안임을 스스로 인정>하고 있는 것이다. 여기에 경찰의 노골적인 수사 지연까지 겹치면서, ‘공천 비리 게이트’야말로 왜 특검이 필요한지를 역설적으로 증명하고 있다.

민주당에 경고한다. 야당이 요구하는 정당한 특검은 외면한 채, 1년 넘게 우려먹은 ‘내란’ 이슈만 쥐어짜는 정략적 특검에 매달리는 행태는 명백한 방탄 정치이자 파렴치 범죄를 은폐하는 것이다. 의회 권력을 남용하여 김병기 의원과 권력 핵심부의 연루 의혹을 덮으려는 행위로 오히려 자인하는 것이며, 사실상 민주 공당의 포기선언과 다를 바 없다. 내란 단절문제도 국민의 힘만의 문제가 아니다. 민주당도 못지않게 ‘내란 몰이’이라는 과거의 늪에서 이제 그만 나와야 한다. 집권을 하고도 정략과 독재를 위해 국격을 자해하고 국민의 자존심을 지속적으로 손상하는 내란팔이, 국익 자해의 악행을 멈춰야 한다. 그리고 지금 이 순간, ‘공천부패 척결’라는 거울 앞에 서야만 한다.

Is the special prosecutor's investigation into the "nomination corruption scandal" bulletproof?

Former President Yoon Seok-yeol, accused of being the ringleader of the rebellion, was sentenced to death, the maximum sentence.

Martial law, which ended after just six hours on December 3, 2024, effectively entered its final phase, leaving only a stern judicial judgment on the anachronistic attempt to destroy the constitutional order. In reality, the situation was resolved within two hours, with not a single casualty. This led to a laughable incident, some even calling it an "enlightenment decree," but the judiciary's ruling, consistent with the public's expectations and historical responsibility, remains.

Yoon Seok-yeol's martial law rebellion has now entered the historical backwaters, having already been investigated by a special prosecutor and completed a final trial. The internal rebellion incident is effectively coming to a close. Yet, the Democratic Party of Korea is desperately trying to bring it up again. The Legislation and Judiciary Committee unilaterally passed the "Comprehensive Insurrection Special Prosecutor Act" and announced it would be brought to the plenary session on the 15th.

However, even a child knows that the special prosecutor the public urgently needs is not a rehash of a previously concluded case, but a special investigation into the Unification Church scandal and the Democratic Party's nomination and corruption scandal. It would be common sense to prioritize uncovering the truth about the ongoing corruption scandals involving those in power above all else.

However, the Democratic Party's utter neglect and dilution of the matter have left these urgent issues unaddressed.

• The "Unification Church Gate" scandal is sparking public outrage.

• The "Democratic Party nomination bribery scandal" is shaking the very foundations of the ruling party.

• Representative Kim Byung-ki, who has touted himself as Chairman Lee Jae-myung's key weapon, is accused of "unprecedented, shameless corruption, illegal abuse of power, and other comprehensive criminal offenses."

• The public has shown their unwillingness to investigate from the outset, acting as if they are desperately begging for a special prosecutor's investigation through a show of investigation.

Despite this, the Democratic Party remains silent on the demands of the opposition party and the public for a special prosecutorial investigation into these serious corruption cases. Despite daily allegations pouring in for over a month, they are not taking stern action against the individuals involved, but instead begging them to leave the party. Their mere acquiescence, even in the face of their own ethics committee's expulsion decision, is a clear departure from common sense for a ruling party.

Even more alarming is the Democratic Party's attitude. Spokesperson Park Soo-hyun stated that Rep. Kim Byung-ki's shameless legal and ethical issues "require a high level of political judgment." This acknowledges that Rep. Kim's misconduct is not an individual matter, but a political and organizational issue deeply connected to the ruling party's core. This, coupled with the police's blatant delay in the investigation, paradoxically demonstrates why the "nomination corruption scandal" is the very reason a special prosecutor is needed.

We warn the Democratic Party. Disregarding the legitimate special prosecutor demanded by the opposition party and clinging to a politically motivated special prosecutor who only focuses on the "insurrection" issue, which has been brewing for over a year, is a clear case of bulletproof politics and a cover-up of a shameless crime. This abuse of parliamentary power to cover up the alleged involvement of Rep. Kim Byung-ki and the core of power is an admission of guilt, effectively amounting to a declaration of abandonment by the Democratic Party. The issue of ending the insurrection is not solely a People Power Party issue. The Democratic Party, too, must now emerge from the swamp of its past, its "insurrection drive." Even after taking power, it must stop its self-destructive acts of insurrection and self-destruction, continuing to undermine national prestige and national pride for political maneuvering and dictatorship. And now, at this very moment, it must face the mirror of "eradicating corruption in nominations."
