[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산시립미술관이 아시아 사회 참여 예술의 새로운 흐름을 조망하는 특별 전시를 선보인다. 미술관은 오는 6월 18일까지 (재)부산문화회관에서 '무빙 온 아시아 : 포스트 사회 참여 예술'을 개최하며 지역 문화예술 저변 확대에 나선다.

이번 전시에는 한국을 포함한 14개국에서 온 16명의 ‘디지털 네이티브’ 작가들이 참여한다. 이들은 인공지능(AI)과 3D 게임 그래픽 엔진 등 고도화된 컴퓨팅 기술을 활용해, 과거 세대와는 차별화된 방식으로 사회적 메시지를 던진다.

출품된 30여 점의 영상과 미디어 작품들은 기술적 정교함과 개인의 주관적 시선을 결합한 것이 특징이다. 국가 이기주의와 환경 파괴, 이념 갈등이 심화되는 현대 사회 속에서 젊은 예술가들은 진실과 허구를 넘나드는 상상력으로 새로운 공공 미술의 가능성을 제시한다.

특히 이번 전시는 부산시립미술관과 (재)부산문화회관의 협업으로 진행되어 시민들에게 더욱 풍성한 예술 향유 기회를 제공한다. 디지털 환경에 익숙한 세대 작가들에게 기술은 창작의 장벽을 넘어 자본과 노동의 제약을 극복하고 정교한 이미지를 구현하는 강력한 도구로 활용되었다.

전시는 (재)부산문화회관 전시실에서 오전 10시부터 오후 6시까지 무료로 운영되며 매주 월요일은 휴관한다. 관람객들은 첨단 기술과 예술이 결합된 작품들을 통해 동시대 아시아 예술가들이 제시하는 미적·사회적 상상력을 직접 경험할 수 있다.

서진석 부산시립미술관장은 이번 전시가 갈등의 시대 속에서 아시아 젊은 작가들의 시선을 경험하는 소중한 자리가 될 것이라고 밝혔다. 또한 첨단 기술이 녹아든 예술 작품들이 시민들에게 특별한 감각적 경험을 선사하기를 기대한다고 덧붙였다.

The Busan Museum of Art is hosting a special exhibition titled "Moving on Asia: Post-Socially Engaged Art," showcasing new trends in Asian socially engaged art. Running through June 18 at the Busan Cultural Center, the exhibition aims to expand the reach of media art through collaboration between local cultural institutions.

The exhibition features 16 "digital native" artists from 14 countries, including South Korea. These artists, who grew up in the digital era, use advanced computing technologies to interpret social messages through a unique artistic vocabulary that differs from previous generations.

A key highlight of the showcase is the use of cutting-edge tools such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and 3D game engines like Unreal Engine and Unity. For this generation, technology is no longer a barrier but a tool to overcome the constraints of capital and labor, allowing for the creation of highly sophisticated and personalized social commentaries.

Spanning over 30 video and media works, the artists address contemporary issues including nationalism, environmental destruction, and ideological conflicts. By blurring the lines between truth and fiction, these young Asian creators offer a fresh perspective on the possibilities of public art in a fractured world.

The exhibition is open to the public for free at the Busan Cultural Center from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM (closed on Mondays). Detailed information can be found on the Busan Museum of Art website or through the Loop Lab Busan portal.

Seo Jin-seok, Director of the Busan Museum of Art, stated that the exhibition provides a platform to experience the aesthetic and social imagination of young Asian artists in an era of deepening conflict. He expressed hope that the fusion of advanced technology and art would provide citizens with a unique sensory and cultural experience.
