[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 한일 어업협정선 인근 해상에서 조업 중이던 어선에서 외국인 선원 2명이 바다에 빠져 1명이 숨지고 1명이 다치는 사고가 발생했다.

부산해양경찰서(서장 서정원)는 19일 오후 9시경 수영구 민락항 동쪽 약 31km 해상에서 조업 중이던 연안자망 어선 A호(4.85톤, 민락 선적, 승선원 3명)에서 외국인 선원 2명이 바다에 추락해 긴급 구조했으나 1명이 사망했다고 밝혔다.

해경에 따르면 당시 어선에서 그물을 던지는 투망 작업을 하던 중 선원 B씨(42세, 남, 인도네시아)가 그물 줄에 걸려 중심을 잃고 바다에 빠졌다. 이를 옆에서 붙잡으려던 동료 선원 C씨(25세, 남, 인도네시아) 역시 함께 물에 빠진 것으로 확인됐다. 사고 당시 두 선원 모두 구명조끼를 착용하고 있었던 것으로 파악됐다.

신고를 접수한 해경은 인근에 있던 경비함정을 현장으로 급파했다. 먼저 물에 빠진 B씨는 A호 선장과 C씨에 의해 배 위로 끌어 올려졌으나 이미 의식과 호흡이 없는 상태였다. 이어 C씨는 인근에 있던 다른 어선의 도움을 받아 A호로 구조됐다.

경비함정에 환자들을 옮겨 실은 해경은 양산부산대병원 원격응급의료시스템의 지도 아래 자동심박압박기를 이용해 B씨에게 심폐소생술을 실시하며 민락항으로 향했다. 이후 민락항 남동쪽 약 13km 해상에서 마중 나온 파출소 연안구조정으로 환자들을 인계한 뒤 구조 조치를 이어가며 민락항에 입항했다.

부두에서 대기 중이던 119구급차를 통해 이들을 급히 병원으로 이송했으나 B씨는 끝내 사망 판정을 받았다. 함께 구조된 C씨는 발목 부상을 입어 현재 병원에서 치료를 받고 있다.

해경은 투망 작업 중 그물 줄에 발이 걸리면서 추락 사고가 발생했다는 A호 선장의 진술을 바탕으로 정확한 사고 경위를 조사하고 있다.

Two foreign crew members fell overboard while fishing in waters near the Korea-Japan Fisheries Agreement line, leaving one dead and another injured.

The Busan Coast Guard (Chief Seo Jeong-won) announced that at approximately 21:00 yesterday (19th), two foreign crew members fell into the sea from the A-ho (a 4.85-ton coastal gillnet vessel registered in Millak, carrying three crew members) which was operating about 31 km east of Millak Port in Suyeong-gu. Although both were urgently rescued, one worker tragically lost his life.

According to the Coast Guard, the accident occurred during a net-casting operation when crew member B (a 42-year-old Indonesian national) became entangled in a net rope and fell into the water. Another crew member, C (a 25-year-old Indonesian national), fell into the sea alongside him while attempting to grab B and pull him back to safety. It was confirmed that both crew members were wearing life jackets at the time of the incident.

Upon receiving the distress call, the Coast Guard immediately dispatched a nearby patrol vessel to the scene. B, the first to fall, was pulled back onto the A-ho by the captain and C, but was already unconscious and not breathing. C was successfully rescued back onto the A-ho with the assistance of another fishing vessel operating nearby.

After transferring B and C to the patrol vessel, Coast Guard officers performed CPR on B using an automated chest compressor under the guidance of the Pusan National University Yangsan Hospital's remote emergency medical system while rushing toward the mainland at full speed. The patrol vessel then rendezvoused with a coastal rescue boat from a local station about 13 km southeast of Millak Port to transfer the patients, continuing life-saving measures until arrival at the port.

Although the victims were swiftly transported to a hospital via an awaiting 119 ambulance, B was ultimately pronounced dead. C is currently receiving hospital treatment for an ankle injury.

The Coast Guard is investigating the exact circumstances of the accident based on the statement from the captain of the A-ho, who noted that the fall occurred when the victim's foot became caught in a net rope during the casting process.
