[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 더불어민주당 전재수 부산시장 후보가 6·3 지방선거 공식 선거운동 첫날 부산항을 찾아 항만 노동자들과 소통하며 “해양수도 부산 완성” 의지를 강조했다.

전 후보는 21일 오전 부산항 연안여객터미널에서 통선 선장들과 간담회를 갖고 선거운동의 첫 일정을 시작했다. 통선은 대형 선박과 육지를 오가며 사람과 물품을 운반하는 소형 선박으로, 항만 물류 현장의 핵심 역할을 담당하고 있다.

전 후보는 이 자리에서 “통선 노동자들은 부산경제와 한반도 물류를 지탱하는 모세혈관이자 외국 선원들이 처음 만나는 부산의 얼굴”이라며 현장 노동자들의 노고에 감사의 뜻을 전했다. 이어 “현장의 목소리를 바탕으로 부산을 세계적인 해양수도로 도약시키겠다”고 밝혔다.

이후 전 후보는 북극항로 시범운항 사업자로 예비 선정된 팬스타라인닷컴을 방문해 부산항에 정박 중인 팬스타 그레이스호에 올랐다. 그는 “부산 선사가 북극항로 시범운항 사업자로 선정된 것은 매우 뜻깊은 일”이라며 “북극항로 개척은 부산이 글로벌 해양물류 중심도시로 성장하는 역사적 출발점이 될 것”이라고 강조했다.

또 “해양수산부 장관 시절 추진했던 북극항로 개척 구상이 현실로 이어지고 있다”며 “부산시민과 함께 의미 있는 성과를 만들어가겠다”고 말했다.

전 후보는 이어 부산항보안공사와 신선대 감만터미널을 찾아 항만 보안 인력과 부두 노동자들을 격려하고, 현장 관계자들과 아침식사를 함께하며 애로사항을 청취했다.

전 후보는 “해양산업 종사자들의 헌신과 노력에 깊이 감사드린다”며 “선거운동 기간 시민과 현장 노동자들을 직접 만나 소통을 이어가며 해양수도 부산의 새로운 미래를 열어가겠다”고 밝혔다.

한편 전재수 후보는 이날 오후 부산진구 부전역 광장에서 선거대책위원회 출정식을 열고 본격적인 선거운동에 돌입했다.

[Here is the English version of the artice] Democratic Party of Korea’s Busan mayoral candidate Jeon Jae-soo kicked off his official campaign for the June 3 local elections by visiting Busan Port, where he met with port workers and underscored his commitment to completing Busan’s transformation into a “global maritime capital.”

On the morning of May 21, Jeon began his first campaign event with a meeting with launch (tongsun) captains at the Busan Port Coastal Passenger Terminal. Launch boats are small vessels that transport people and goods between large ships and the shore, playing a crucial role in port logistics.

During the meeting, Jeon expressed his appreciation, stating, “Launch workers are the capillaries that sustain Busan’s economy and the logistics of the Korean Peninsula, as well as the first face of Busan encountered by foreign sailors.” He added, “Based on the voices from the field, I will help Busan leap forward as a world-class maritime capital.”

He then visited PanStar Line, which has been preliminarily selected as an operator for a pilot Arctic shipping route project, and boarded the PanStar Grace docked at Busan Port. “It is highly meaningful that a Busan-based shipping company has been selected for the Arctic route pilot project,” he said. “Pioneering the Arctic route will mark a historic starting point for Busan to grow into a global maritime logistics hub.”

Jeon also noted, “The vision for developing Arctic routes that I pursued while serving as Minister of Oceans and Fisheries is now becoming a reality,” adding that he would work with Busan citizens to achieve meaningful results.

He later visited the Busan Port Authority Security Corporation and the Sinseondae-Gamman Terminal, where he encouraged port security personnel and dockworkers. He also shared breakfast with on-site staff and listened to their concerns.

“I deeply appreciate the dedication and hard work of those in the maritime industry,” Jeon said. “Throughout the campaign, I will continue to meet citizens and frontline workers to communicate directly and open a new future for Busan as a maritime capital.”

Meanwhile, Jeon officially launched his campaign later that afternoon with a campaign committee inauguration ceremony at Seomyeon Station Square in Busanjin District.
