[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 박형준 부산시장 후보가 선거운동 마지막 날인 2일 부산시의회에서 기자회견을 열고 현 정권의 독선을 견제하고 보수 대통합과 쇄신을 이끌겠다며 압도적인 지지를 호소했다. 박 후보는 "지난 선거운동 기간 확인한 민심을 바탕으로 승리를 확신한다"며 "중단 없는 부산 발전과 대한민국 민주주의를 위해 반드시 투표해 주시라"고 거듭 호소했다.

 

선거운동 마무리에 따른 시민 감사와 승리의 확신

박 후보는 "지난 2주간 부산 전역에서 저를 환영하고 제 손을 잡으며 응원해 주신 모든 시민 여러분께 뜨거운 감사의 마음을 전한다"며 고개를 숙였다.

 

그는 "지난 5월 21일 자정에 59번 심야버스 탑승으로 선거운동을 시작하며 시민 한 분 한 분의 삶의 길을 함께 고민하고 찾아가는 시장이 되겠다고 약속했다"며 "그 약속에 따라 선거운동 기간 내내 걸어서 민심 속으로, 시민 여러분의 삶의 현장 속으로 들어갔다"고 회고했다.

 

이어 "그렇게 시민 여러분을 만나고 또 만나며 시정이란 결국 시민의 하루를 더 나아지게 하는 것이라는 평범한 진리를 다시 한번 깨달았다"며 "제가 다시 시장으로 당선되면 시민 여러분의 하루하루를 천금처럼 소중히 여기는 시장이 되겠다"고 다짐했다.

 

박 후보는 "후반으로 갈수록 시민 여러분의 강해지는 호응과 지지 열기에 이미 바람은 불었다는 것을 느낄 수 있었다"며 "지금 제 가슴에는 강력한 승리의 확신이 차오르고 있다"고 목소리를 높였다.

지난 5년의 성과와 중단 없는 부산 발전 강조 "곳곳에 외국인 넘쳐났고, 활력"

박 후보는 "지난 5년, 시민 여러분과 제가 쉼 없이 노력한 결과 부산이 정말 많이 바뀌었다"며 "그 변화의 증거가 부산 전역에, 시민의 일상에 분명히 나타나고 있음을 선거운동하면서 확연히 느낄 수 있었다"고 평가했다.

 

이어 그는 "곳곳에 외국인이 넘쳐났고, 불과 2-3년 전만 해도 한산하기만 했던 광복동과 국제시장, 전포동을 비롯한 많은 곳이 활력을 찾고 있었다"며 "붐비는 시민공원과 사상역 앞 그린광장, 활기찬 복지관 문화원 체육시설 등 가는 곳마다 15분도시 정책의 성과를 만날 수 있었다"고 설명했다.

 

그는 "다시 태어나도 살기 싶은 부산이 성큼 다가서고 있다"며 "부산은 지금 투자가 모이고 일자리가 늘어나며 청년에게 기회가 열리고 세계가 주목하는 세계도시로 도약하고 있다"고 강조했다. 그러면서 "지금 필요한 것은 중단 없는 발전이며 부산이 힘차게 비상하고 있는 지금 그 흐름을 더욱 가속해야 한다"며 "거짓말을 일삼는 무능한 후보에게 부산의 미래를 맡길 수는 없다"고 날을 세웠다.

 

현 정권의 독선 비판과 민주주의 수호 "민주당, 사법개악에 이어 초헌법적 공소취소특검법까지 추진"

현 정권을 향해서는 거침없는 비판을 쏟아냈다. 박 후보는 "권력의 독선과 독주에도 경종을 울려야 한다"며 "민주당은 사법개악에 이어 초헌법적 공소취소특검법까지 추진하고 있는데, 이는 대통령이 자기 죄를 자기 손으로 삭제하겠다는 것"이라고 강하게 비판했다.

이어 "투표장에서 보여준 대통령의 태도는 이미 이 분이 권력에 취했음을 여실히 보여준다"며 "비밀투표의 원칙을 어기고서도 나는 상관없다고 말하는데, 자신이 법 위에 있고 일반 국민과 다르다는 생각을 하지 않는다면 나올 수 없는 행동"이라고 직격했다.

 

또한 "국민을 '그들'이라 지칭하며 자기 편 결집을 위한 호루라기를 불고, 접전 지역 시장통을 이곳저곳 찾아다니며 선거를 진두지휘하고 있다"며 "대통령은 특정 정파의 선거대책위원장이 아니며, 교묘한 방법으로 대통령의 선거중립 의무를 저버리는 것 역시 나는 법 위에 설 수 있다고 보는 제왕적 통치의 발상"이라고 규탄했다.

 

박 후보는 "대한민국은 왕의 나라가 아니라 국민의 나라"라며 "부산은 늘 나라의 위기 때마다 가장 먼저 일어섰던 도시이자 민주주의를 외치며 거리로 뛰쳐나왔던 도시인만큼, 이번 선거에서 반드시 이재명 정권의 독주와 폭주를 견제하고 권력 사유화를 분쇄해야 한다"고 역설했다.

 

"보수 분열 극복과 통합·쇄신의 다짐"

박 후보는 "이를 위해 가장 먼저 보수의 분열부터 극복해야 한다"며 "분열의 끝은 패배이며 계속 분열하면 계속 패배하고 다른 길은 없다"고 선을 그었다.

 

그는 "제가 2019년에 보수 통합 운동에 앞장섰던 이유도 보수의 각개약진은 보수의 각개격파를 낳았을 뿐이기 때문"이라며 "예정된 패배의 길을 계속 걸어가는 것보다 어리석은 일은 없으며 더 이상 분열과 패배의 어리석은 길을 받아들일 수 없다"고 단호하게 말했다.

 

이어 "2019-2020년 보수 통합 운동을 통해 정권교체의 기반을 닦았듯이, 저 박형준이 선거가 끝나면 다시 한 번 보수의 통합과 쇄신에 앞장서겠다"며 "시민 여러분께서 저에게 보수를 하나로 묶고 더 강한 보수로 거듭나게 할 그 동력을 달라"고 요청했다. 박 후보는 "제가 바로 보수 통합을 실현할 유일한 후보"라며 보수 표심의 결집을 호소했다.

6월 3일 투표 참여 및 압도적 지지 호소

박 후보는 "다시 태어나도 살고 싶은 세계도시 부산을 위해, 그리고 민주공화국 대한민국을 사랑하는 마음으로 모두 투표장에 나와 저 박형준에게 압도적인 지지를 보내 달라"며 "낙동강 전선의 최후 보루 부산만은 지켜야 한다"고 강력히 호소했다. 그는 "시민 여러분 한 분 한 분의 한 표가 부산의 미래, 대한민국 민주주의의 미래를 결정한다"며 "내일 6월 3일, 반드시 투표해 달라"고 거듭 당부했다.

Park expressed absolute confidence in victory based on the public sentiment he witnessed throughout the campaign trail, urging citizens to vote for the uninterrupted development of Busan and the future of South Korean democracy.

 

Gratitude to Citizens and Confidence in Victory

"I want to express my deepest gratitude to all the citizens across Busan who welcomed me, held my hand, and cheered me on over the past two weeks," Park said, bowing in appreciation. "I kicked off this campaign at midnight on May 21st by riding the No. 59 late-night bus, where I promised to be a mayor who reflects on and navigates the life path of each and every citizen. True to that promise, I spent the entire campaign period walking directly into the hearts of the people and into the very places where our citizens live their daily lives."

 

He continued, "Meeting so many of you over and over again reminded me of the simple truth that city administration is ultimately about making the daily lives of our citizens better. If re-elected, I will treasure every single day of our citizens' lives as if it were worth a thousand pieces of gold." Park added with conviction, "As the campaign entered its final stretch, I could literally feel the momentum shifting with the surging enthusiasm and support from the public. Right now, my heart is filled with a powerful certainty of victory."

 

Highlighting Five Years of Achievements and Uninterrupted Progress

"Thanks to the tireless efforts of our citizens and myself over the past five years, Busan has truly transformed," Park emphasized. "I could clearly feel the evidence of this change across the entire city and in the daily lives of our people throughout the campaign."

 

He noted specific examples, saying, "International visitors are everywhere now, and places like Gwangbok-dong, Gukje Market, and Jeonpo-dong—which were completely deserted just two or three years ago—are booming with energy. Everywhere I went, from the crowded Citizens Park and the Green Plaza in front of Sasang Station to our bustling welfare, cultural, and sports centers, I witnessed the tangible success of our '15-Minute City' policy."

 

He further stated, "The vision of Busan as a city where people want to live, even if they were born again, is rapidly becoming a reality. Busan is now leaping forward as a global city that attracts investment, creates jobs, opens up opportunities for the youth, and commands the world's attention. What we need right now is uninterrupted progress. Now that Busan is soaring dynamically, we must accelerate this momentum. We absolutely cannot hand over Busan's future to an incompetent candidate who does nothing but lie."

 

Blasting the Regime's Tyranny and Defending Democracy

Park did not hold back in his fierce criticism of the current administration. "We must sound the alarm against the self-righteousness and runaway tyranny of this regime," Park declared. "Following their attempts to sabotage the judiciary, the Democratic Party is now pushing for an unconstitutional special counsel bill to drop public charges. This is nothing short of the President attempting to erase his own crimes with his own hands."

 

He went on to directly attack the executive branch, stating, "The President's behavior at the polling station clearly shows that he is completely drunk on power. He violated the principle of a secret ballot and casually claimed it didn't matter to him. This is the kind of behavior that only happens when someone genuinely believes they are above the law and entirely different from ordinary citizens."

 

He also denounced the political maneuvering, saying, "He is calling the public 'them,' blowing the whistle to rally his own faction, and micromanaging the election by touring street markets in fiercely contested districts. The President is not a campaign manager for a specific political faction. Using slick, underhanded methods to abandon the presidential duty of election neutrality is a relic of imperial rule deeply rooted in the mindset that he can stand above the law."

 

Park proclaimed, "South Korea is not a kingdom ruled by a king; it belongs to the people. Busan has always been the first city to rise up whenever the nation faced a crisis, taking to the streets to demand democracy. In this election, we must decisively check the unilateral overreach of the Lee Jae-myung regime and smash this privatization of power."

 

Overcoming Conservative Division with a Commitment to Unity and Reform

As a prerequisite for halting the regime's runaway overreach, Park strongly called for overcoming divisions within the conservative bloc. "The end result of division is defeat, and if we keep dividing, we will keep losing—there is no other way," Park drew a hard line, adding, "Our own painful past experiences prove this. The reason I took the lead in the conservative unity movement back in 2019 was because separate conservative factions only led to us being defeated one by one. There is nothing more foolish than continuing down a path of guaranteed defeat, and I refuse to accept that foolish path of division and failure any longer."

 

He vowed to take action, stating, "Just as we laid the groundwork for a regime change through the conservative unity movement from 2019 to 2020, I, Park Hyung-joon, will once again take the lead in uniting and reforming conservatives as soon as this election is over. I ask the citizens to give me the political leverage to bind the conservative bloc into one and transform it into a stronger force. I am the only candidate who can actually deliver conservative unity."

 

An Urgent Appeal to Vote on June 3rd

"For the sake of Busan, a global city where people want to live even if born again, and out of love for the democratic republic of South Korea, please come out to the polling stations and deliver an overwhelming victory for me," Park powerfully appealed. "We must defend Busan, the absolute final stronghold on the Nakdong River front."

 

He concluded by urging voters, "Every single vote cast by each and every one of you will decide the future of Busan and the future of South Korean democracy. Please, make sure to go out and vote tomorrow, June 3rd."
