[Here is the English version of the artice] U.S.-Iran Ink Historic Peace Accord Ending War; Staggered Relief Tied to Complete Nuclear Dismantlement

President Donald Trump, attending the G7 summit in France, announced that the United States and Iran have signed a bilateral peace memorandum of understanding (MOU) to end their military conflict. Orchestrated through backchannel mediation by Qatar and Pakistan, the historic agreement was formalized with a presidential signature during a working dinner at the Palace of Versailles. News of the accord—and the subsequent unblocking of the critical Strait of Hormuz shipping lane—sent global oil prices plunging, triggering immediate shifts in the geopolitical and economic landscape.

A Departure from the JCPOA: A "Staggered" Rewards System

Unlike the Obama-era Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), this newly minted agreement provides no upfront sanctions relief or cash injections for Tehran.

Vice President J.D. Vance emphasized that the cornerstone of the accord is Iran’s long-term commitment to permanently forfeit its highly enriched uranium stockpile and halt the rebuilding of its nuclear infrastructure. Under the strict terms of the MOU, economic benefits and international investments will only flow to Tehran incrementally, matching verifiable compliance as Iran performs its end of the bargain.

Kicking Off 60 Days of "Tricky" Technical Talks

The formal signing of the deal this Friday will trigger an intense 60-day window for specialized technical negotiations. The primary challenge involves finalizing a timeline for the return of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors to verify compliance.

Experts note that because Iran's nuclear infrastructure has been heavily damaged by recent military strikes, assessing the exact baseline of the remaining stockpiles amid bombed-out facilities will present unprecedented technical and logistical hurdles.

Battle Over Tolls in the Strait of Hormuz

Senior U.S. officials declared that the vital Strait of Hormuz will be fully opened to international maritime traffic without any tariffs or tolls. However, early friction has emerged as Iranian officials indicated they expect to levy "service fees" on passing commercial tankers.

G7 allies, particularly the European Union, are closely monitoring these maritime provisions, citing deep concerns over how international law of the sea precedents here might ripple out to other crucial global waterways like the Strait of Gibraltar.

Shifting Middle East Alliances and the Israel-Lebanon Divide

While Gulf Arab nations have lauded the Trump peace plan for transforming regional stability, the agreement faces immediate friction from Israel. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel will maintain its current military posture in southern Lebanon to combat the Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah, despite Iranian demands for peace there as part of the broader deal.

In response, President Trump urged Netanyahu to be "more responsible" and unexpectedly praised Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, suggesting Damascus could effectively suppress Hezbollah without mass civilian casualties—highlighting a distinct divergence in objectives between Washington and its closest Middle Eastern ally.
