[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 제14회 부산국제코미디페스티벌(BICF, 이하 부코페)이 언어의 장벽을 뛰어넘는 해외 공연팀의 무대를 선보이며 글로벌 코미디 축제의 열기를 더한다. 프랑스와 유럽, 일본을 대표하는 넌버벌 퍼포먼스와 코미디 공연이 관객들과 만나 국적과 세대를 초월한 웃음을 선사할 예정이다.

오는 8월 21일부터 30일까지 부산에서 열리는 제14회 부코페에는 9개국 52개 해외 공연팀이 참가해 다채로운 코미디 무대를 펼친다. 평소 쉽게 접하기 어려운 해외 코미디 공연들이 대거 마련되면서 국내 관객들에게 새로운 웃음과 색다른 공연 경험을 제공할 것으로 기대를 모은다.

먼저 프랑스를 대표하는 비주얼 코미디스트 패트릭 코텟 모이네의 대표작 ‘마임 드 리옹(MIME DE RIEN)’이 관객들을 찾아온다. 최소한의 대사와 섬세한 몸짓만으로 다양한 직업과 캐릭터를 표현하는 이 공연은 현실과 상상이 어우러진 마임 퍼포먼스를 통해 웃음과 감동을 동시에 전할 예정이다. 풍부한 표정과 정교한 움직임으로 관객들의 상상력을 자극하며 언어를 뛰어넘는 코미디의 매력을 선보인다.

세계적인 마술사들이 함께하는 ‘더블(Double)’도 무대에 오른다. FISM 세계 마술 챔피언 노베르 페레와 유럽 마술 챔피언 찰리 매그, 대한민국을 대표하는 코미디 마술사 김민형이 한 무대에서 호흡을 맞춘다. 화려한 마술과 유쾌한 코미디가 결합된 공연은 예측할 수 없는 반전과 웃음을 선사하며 관객들의 시선을 사로잡을 전망이다.

‘재팬 넌버벌 라이브 G팀(Japan Nonverbal Live G Team)’은 대사 없이 오직 퍼포먼스로만 웃음을 전한다. 일본을 대표하는 퍼포머 모리야스 방방비가로, 미스터 오구치, 키노시타 쟈쿠가 저글링과 마술, 밸런스 아트 등 다양한 장르를 결합한 공연을 선보이며 남녀노소 누구나 함께 즐길 수 있는 무대를 완성한다. 언어에 의존하지 않는 공연 특유의 매력으로 전 세계 관객을 하나로 연결하는 시간이 될 것으로 기대된다.

이처럼 올해 부코페는 비주얼 코미디와 마임, 코미디 마술, 넌버벌 퍼포먼스 등 다양한 장르의 해외 공연을 통해 세계 각국의 코미디 문화를 소개하며 국제 코미디 축제로서의 위상을 한층 높일 계획이다.

아시아 최초의 국제 코미디페스티벌인 부코페는 지난 14년간 코미디 문화 저변 확대와 시민들의 문화 향유 기회 확대에 기여해 왔다. 2024년부터는 지역 대학과 연계한 코미디 인재 양성 사업을 추진하고 있으며, 향후 코미디 전용 극장 조성을 통해 창작과 교육, 제작이 연계되는 지속 가능한 코미디 생태계 구축을 목표로 하고 있다. 또한 부산을 중심으로 코미디 콘텐츠의 제작과 유통 기반을 확대해 축제를 넘어 K-코미디 산업 발전의 거점 역할을 수행한다는 계획이다.

한편 제14회 부산국제코미디페스티벌은 오는 21일부터 30일까지 열흘간 부산에서 개최된다. 공연 티켓은 현재 NOL 인터파크를 통해 예매할 수 있다.

The 14th Busan International Comedy Festival (BICF) is set to bring audiences laughter that transcends language barriers with a lineup of acclaimed international performance teams. Featuring visual comedy, mime, comedy magic, and nonverbal performances from France, Europe, and Japan, this year's festival promises a truly global celebration of comedy.

Running from August 21 to August 30, the 14th BICF will showcase performances by 52 international acts from nine countries, offering Korean audiences a rare opportunity to experience a diverse range of comedy styles from around the world. The festival is expected to deliver fresh entertainment while highlighting the universal appeal of laughter beyond language and culture.

Among the featured performances is "MIME DE RIEN," created by renowned French visual comedian Patrick Cottet Moine. Using minimal dialogue and highly expressive physical performance, the show vividly portrays a variety of professions and characters, inviting audiences into an imaginative world where reality and fantasy blend seamlessly. Through refined mime techniques and expressive storytelling, the performance is expected to deliver both laughter and heartfelt emotion.

Another highlight is "Double," a collaborative comedy magic show featuring world-class illusionists. The performance brings together Norbert Ferré, FISM World Champion of Magic, Charlie Mag, European Magic Champion and Ferré's assistant, and Kim Min-hyung, one of Korea's leading comedy magicians. Combining spectacular illusions with comedic timing, the trio promises a fast-paced performance filled with unexpected twists and visual excitement.

The "Japan Nonverbal Live G Team" will also take the stage with a performance that relies entirely on physical expression rather than spoken dialogue. Japanese artists Moriyasu Bang Bang Bigaro, Mr. Oguchi, and Kinoshita Jaku will showcase a dynamic blend of juggling, magic, and balance art, creating a family-friendly performance that audiences of all ages can enjoy. By communicating solely through movement and performance, the show demonstrates how comedy can connect people regardless of language or nationality.

Through this diverse lineup of international productions, the 14th BICF aims to expand the boundaries of global comedy while offering audiences an opportunity to experience a wide spectrum of comedic traditions. From visual comedy and mime to comedy magic and nonverbal performance, this year's festival further strengthens its position as one of Asia's leading international comedy festivals.

As Asia's first international comedy festival, BICF has spent the past 14 years promoting comedy culture and expanding public access to the performing arts. Since 2024, the festival has also been working with regional universities to cultivate the next generation of comedy talent. Looking ahead, BICF plans to establish a dedicated comedy theater that integrates creation, education, and production while building a sustainable comedy ecosystem. The festival also seeks to strengthen Busan's role as a production and distribution hub for comedy content, laying the foundation for the continued growth of the Korean comedy industry.
