[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 아시아 최초의 국제 코미디페스티벌인 부산국제코미디페스티벌(BICF)이 오는 21일부터 30일까지 열흘간 부산 전역에서 열린다.

제14회 부산국제코미디페스티벌은 다양한 장르의 국내외 코미디 공연을 통해 시민과 관객들에게 웃음과 즐거움을 선사할 예정이다.

축제의 시작을 알리는 개막공연은 21일 벡스코에서 열린다. ‘토크의 제왕’ 지석진이 메인 MC를 맡고, ‘말자쇼&개그콘서트 갈라쇼’를 비롯해 국내 드로잉 퍼포먼스팀 크로키키 브라더스와 해외 코미디언 패트릭 코텟 모이네의 무대가 펼쳐진다. 인기 밴드 QWER은 축하공연으로 참여하며, 개그맨 양상국은 블루카펫 MC를 맡아 국내 정상급 개그맨과 해외 코미디언들을 소개한다.

이번 축제에서는 고(故) 전유성의 코미디 정신을 기리는 특별 무대 ‘전유성 없는 전유성 쇼’도 선보인다. 한국 코미디 발전에 큰 영향을 준 전유성을 향한 후배들의 존경을 담은 공연으로, 이홍렬을 비롯해 신봉선, 김신영, 졸탄 등이 출연해 의미 있는 무대를 꾸민다.

‘갈갈이 개그콘서트 : 레전드의 귀환’은 한국 코미디의 전성기를 이끈 개그맨들이 다시 모이는 레전드 코미디쇼다. 박준형을 중심으로 ‘청년백서’, ‘생활사투리’, ‘우비 삼남매’, ‘골목대장 마빡이’ 등 인기 코너들이 무대 위에서 재현된다. 심현섭, 박성호, 임혁필, 박영진, 김지혜, 오지헌, 오정태, 박휘순 등 ‘개그콘서트’ 출신 개그맨들이 참여해 추억과 웃음을 선사한다.

세계 무대에서 활약해 온 넌버벌 코미디 그룹 ‘옹알스’도 관객을 만난다. 대학로 공연을 시작으로 26개국 56개 도시 투어를 진행한 옹알스는 말 없이 몸짓과 표정만으로 웃음을 전달하는 독창적인 퍼포먼스를 선보일 예정이다.

폐막공연 ‘나는 개가수다’는 코미디와 음악이 결합된 뮤직 코미디쇼로 축제의 마지막을 장식한다. 김대희, 조혜련, 이세영, 영기, 이지요, 이봉원 등이 출연해 유쾌한 입담과 라이브 공연, 다양한 퍼포먼스를 선보인다.

부코페는 지난 14년간 코미디 문화 확산과 시민들의 문화 향유 기회 확대에 기여해 온 대표적인 국제 코미디 축제다. 2024년부터는 지역 대학과 연계한 코미디 인재 양성 사업을 추진하고 있으며, 앞으로 코미디 전용 극장 조성과 창작·교육·제작이 연결되는 산업 기반 구축을 목표로 하고 있다.

또한 부산을 중심으로 코미디 콘텐츠 제작과 유통 환경을 조성해 K-COMEDY 산업의 경쟁력을 높이고, 아시아를 대표하는 코미디 허브로 성장한다는 계획이다.

=Jiseok Jin, Yang Sang-kook, and QWER to join opening ceremony… Legendary comedy performances and special tribute stages to entertain audiences

The 14th Busan International Comedy Festival (BICF), Asia’s first international comedy festival, will take place across Busan from August 21 to 30, bringing a wide range of comedy performances and entertainment programs to audiences throughout the city.

This year’s festival will feature diverse comedy genres and performances by leading Korean and international artists, offering audiences a chance to enjoy laughter and creative entertainment throughout the 10-day event.

The opening performance will be held at BEXCO on August 21. Popular entertainer Jiseok Jin will serve as the main host, while the program will feature the “Malja Show & Gag Concert Gala Show,” a drawing performance by Korean art comedy duo Croquis Brothers, and a performance by internationally acclaimed comedian Patrick Cottet-Moine. Popular band QWER will deliver a special congratulatory performance, while comedian Yang Sang-kook will host the Blue Carpet event introducing top Korean comedians and international performers from nine countries.

One of the festival’s most meaningful stages will be “The Jeon Yu-seong Show Without Jeon Yu-seong,” a tribute performance honoring the late comedian Jeon Yu-seong, a pioneer of Korean comedy who inspired generations of performers. The show will bring together veteran comedian Lee Hong-ryeol, Shin Bong-sun, Kim Shin-young, and comedy group Zolton (Lee Jae-hyung, Han Hyun-min, and Jung Jin-wook) to celebrate his legacy and comedic spirit.

“Galgali Gag Concert: The Return of Legends” will bring back some of Korea’s most beloved comedy moments. Led by comedian Park Jun-hyung, known as “Galgali,” the show will revive classic segments from the popular program 'Gag Concert', including “Youth White Paper,” “Dialect of Life,” “Three Umbrella Brothers,” and “Alley Boss Mabbaegi.” Former *Gag Concert* stars Shim Hyun-seop, Park Sung-ho, Lim Hyuk-pil, Park Young-jin, Kim Ji-hye, Oh Ji-heon, Oh Jung-tae, and Park Hwi-soon will join the performance, delivering nostalgic humor for audiences.

Internationally recognized non-verbal comedy group Ongals will also take the stage. Beginning with performances in Seoul’s Daehangno theater district, Ongals has toured 26 countries and 56 cities worldwide. Through expressive movements, facial expressions, and physical comedy, the group creates performances that can be enjoyed by audiences of all ages and backgrounds.

The festival will conclude with the closing performance “I Am a Gag Singer,” a signature music comedy show combining humor and live music. Featuring Kim Dae-hee, Jo Hye-ryun, Lee Se-young, Young-ki, Lee Ji-yo, Lee Bong-won, and other performers, the show will deliver a mix of comedy, live vocals, and unpredictable stage performances.

Since its launch, the Busan International Comedy Festival has contributed to expanding comedy culture and increasing opportunities for citizens to enjoy cultural experiences. As Asia’s first international comedy festival, BICF has played a key role in promoting the growth of the comedy industry.

Since 2024, the festival has also operated a comedy talent development program in cooperation with local universities. It plans to establish a dedicated comedy theater in the future and create a sustainable ecosystem connecting comedy creation, education, and production.

Through these efforts, BICF aims to strengthen the competitiveness of the K-COMEDY industry, establish Busan as a hub for comedy content production and distribution, and position the city as a leading center for comedy in Asia.
