'[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산시가 국내외 최대 규모의 인디게임 축제인 '부산인디커넥트페스티벌 2026(BIC Festival 2026)'을 (재)부산정보산업진흥원, (사)부산인디커넥트페스티벌조직위원회와 14일부터 16일까지 벡스코 제1전시장(2홀)에서 개최한다.

올해로 12회째를 맞이한 부산인디커넥트페스티벌은 '버프 유어 인디 스피릿(BUFF YOUR INDIE SPIRIT)'이라는 슬로건 아래 열린다. 개발자와 관람객이 교류하며 인디게임 본연의 가치를 발견하고 함께 성장하자는 의미를 담았다.

역대 최대 규모… 42개국 332개 우수 인디게임 현장 선보여

올해 BIC 페스티벌은 출품작 모집 단계부터 큰 화제를 모았다. 전년 대비 44% 증가한 57개국 856개 작품이 출품되어 역대 최다 접수 기록을 경신했다. 심사위원단의 엄격한 심사를 거친 경쟁 부문(일반·루키)과 관람객 투표를 반영한 비경쟁 부문(커넥트픽) 등 총 42개국 332개 작품이 최종 선정되어 관람객을 맞이한다.

행사는 비즈니스와 대중적 체험을 병행해 운영된다. 개막일인 14일은 B2B 중심의 '비즈니스 데이'로 지정되어 기업 매칭, '부산 인디 웨이브 컨퍼런스', BIC 어워즈 주요 후보작 발표가 진행된다. 15일부터 16일까지 양일간 열리는 '페스티벌 데이'에는 일반 관람객을 위한 게임 전시·체험, 무대 이벤트, 라이브 스트리밍, 지역 먹거리 팝업존 등 다채로운 부대행사가 펼쳐지며, 마지막 날인 16일 어워즈 시상식을 끝으로 오프라인 막을 내린다.

유튜브 협업 및 온라인 전시 연장… 글로벌 영토 확장 박차

특히 올해 BIC는 유튜브(YouTube)와의 전략적 파트너십을 체결하고 'YouTube Playables(유튜브 플레이어블)'를 활용한 인디게임 IP 확장 사업을 본격화한다. 별도의 다운로드 없이 바로 게임을 즐길 수 있는 이 서비스를 통해 검증된 국내외 우수 인디게임 7개작을 시범 탑재하여 글로벌 게이머와의 접근성을 높인다.

최근 공식 유튜브 채널 구독자 10만 명을 돌파해 실버버튼을 획득한 BIC 조직위는 이번 협업을 계기로 인디게임의 세계적 저변을 적극 넓혀갈 방침이다. 현장 행사에 참여하지 못한 관람객을 위해 8월 28일까지 공식 누리집(bicfest.org)을 통해 온라인 전시를 이어간다.

Held Aug 14–16 at BEXCO Exhibition Center 1… Showcasing 332 Indie Games from 42 Countries

Busan Metropolitan City, together with the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency and the Busan Indie Connect Festival Organizing Committee, is hosting the "Busan Indie Connect Festival 2026 (BIC Festival 2026)" at BEXCO Exhibition Center 1 (Hall 2) for three days from August 14 to 16.

Under the slogan "BUFF YOUR INDIE SPIRIT," the festival invites developers and gamers to connect, discover unique indie game values, and empower one another.

Record-Breaking Submissions… 332 Selected Games on Display

This year’s festival set a new record with 856 submissions from 57 countries, marking a 44% increase compared to the previous year. Through rigorous evaluation by professional judges and public voting, 332 titles from 42 countries were selected across competitive (General/Rookie) and non-competitive (Connect-Pick) divisions.

The event is divided into Business and Festival days. Opening day on August 14 serves as "Business Day," featuring corporate matchmaking, the Busan Indie Wave Conference, and the unveiling of BIC Award nominees. On August 15 and 16, "Festival Days" open to the public with interactive game booths, stage events, live streaming, local food pop-ups, and the final BIC Awards ceremony.

Strategic YouTube Partnership Expands Global Reach

BIC 2026 has forged a strategic partnership with YouTube to integrate "YouTube Playables," enabling instant game playback without additional downloads. Seven vetted indie titles will be onboarded to boost global accessibility.

Following its YouTube channel surpassing 100,000 subscribers and earning the Silver Creator Button, BIC aims to accelerate global exposure for indie developers. For those unable to visit in person, the online exhibition will remain open on the official website (bicfest.org) through August 28.

Russian Vessel Drifting After Breaking Mooring Lines Rescued in Busan's Gamcheon Port

A Russian vessel moored for a prolonged period at Gamcheon Port in Busan broke free and began drifting inside the harbor after its mooring lines snapped, but immediate response by the Coast Guard prevented secondary damage.

The Busan Coast Guard announced that early this morning (10th), the 398-ton unladen Russian-flagged Vessel A, which was berthed at Pier 1 of Gamcheon Port in Saha-gu, drifted after its mooring lines broke, prompting swift securing operations. Upon receiving a report from a Gamcheon Port watchman at around 4:37 AM, the Coast Guard dispatched a coastal rescue boat from the Gamcheon station and a patrol vessel while requesting support from private tugboats.

Upon arrival, officers found that all mooring lines on Vessel A had snapped and the ship had drifted about 15 meters from the pier. Coast Guard officers boarded the vessel to reattach mooring lines to the pier while private tugboats were deployed to prevent further drifting. No casualties or collision damage to nearby vessels occurred as no crew members were aboard.

Investigations revealed that Vessel A is a court-preserved vessel undergoing auction proceedings and had been moored at Gamcheon Port since 2021. The Coast Guard is currently investigating the exact circumstances of the incident with the shipping agency.
