(Grand Prix of the Year)’ 수상작 2편을 발표했다.
일본 덴츠, ‘올해의 에이전시’ 선정 올해 ‘올해의 에이전시(Agency of the Year)’에는 일본의 덴츠(DENTSU INC.)
[Here is the English version of the article] 2026 Busan International Marketing & Advertising Festival Announces Grand Prix Winners
Japan’s “Radio Time Machine” and UAE’s “Recipe for Change” recognized for innovative solutions and sustainable social impact
The 2026 Busan International Marketing & Advertising Festival (MAD STARS), one of Asia’s largest international events for marketing, advertising and digital content, has announced two winners of its top honor, the Grand Prix of the Year.
Japan’s “RADIO TIME MACHINE” won the Grand Prix of the Year in the SOLUTION Group, while the United Arab Emirates’ “Recipe for Change” received the award in the POSITIVE IMPACT Group.
This year, MAD STARS reorganized its award categories into two major groups: the SOLUTION Group and the POSITIVE IMPACT Group. The SOLUTION Group focuses on work that demonstrates the ability to address real-world problems through effective strategy and execution, while the POSITIVE IMPACT Group recognizes work that drives meaningful change in areas such as sustainability, diversity and health.
Entries were accepted worldwide for about four months beginning in early February. A total of 313 preliminary judges from 83 countries conducted the first round of online judging to select finalists. The final round involved 43 judges from 28 countries.
Following the initial online evaluation, the second and final rounds of judging were held in Busan on Aug. 24. Judges engaged in on-site discussions before selecting winners in each category and one Grand Prix of the Year from each of the two groups.
AI-powered radio helps people with dementia reconnect with memories “RADIO TIME MACHINE,” the SOLUTION Group Grand Prix winner, is an AI-powered radio device developed for Japanese medical and nursing-care services company NICHII GAKKAN CO., LTD. The entry was submitted by TBWA\HAKUHODO INC. of Japan.
Users can turn a dial to a specific year, prompting the AI to recreate a radio program based on news, music and the cultural context of that period. The project applies AI to reminiscence therapy, helping people with dementia recall memories and communicate with others through a familiar medium — the radio.
A pilot study conducted at nursing-care facilities in Japan found positive changes among users. Smiling increased by an average of 8.7%, upper-body movement increased by 10.0%, and the amount of speech increased by an average of 10.8 words per minute.
Sandipan Bhattacharyya, chief creative officer at MONKS and chair of the judging panel, said the project demonstrated that AI could serve not as a replacement for people but as a tool for reconnecting memories and relationships.
He said the work stood out because it challenged concerns about an increasingly cold and automated future by using AI to connect people and generations.
Raja Rajamannar, Mastercard senior fellow and former chief marketing and communications officer, described the work as difficult to overlook, saying it demonstrated that memories can remain even in people who are believed to have lost them.
Anny Havercroft, global head of product marketing communications at TikTok, said the project embodied this year’s theme, “AMPLIFY,” by using AI to revive memories, connect people and strengthen their ability to reconnect with the world around them.
She also highlighted the fact that people, rather than technology itself, remained at the center of the project.
“Recipe for Change” creates a sustainable income model for Lebanese women “Recipe for Change,” winner of the POSITIVE IMPACT Group Grand Prix, is a campaign for Danish dairy company Arla Foods, submitted by FP7 McCann in the United Arab Emirates.
The campaign was developed after war disrupted Arla’s existing distribution network in Lebanon. Instead of relying solely on charitable donations, the campaign turned recipes created by Lebanese women into intellectual property that could generate an ongoing source of income.
The recipes were licensed to 96 restaurants in 28 cities. Each time a participating restaurant sells a dish based on one of the recipes, half of the resulting revenue goes to the woman who contributed the recipe.
The initiative was designed to create a sustainable business model that allows women to generate income from their own cultural assets rather than remain dependent on one-time assistance.
Since the campaign began, more than 350 restaurants across Europe, North America, Asia and Oceania have expressed interest in participating. A digital platform is also being developed to expand the program.
Tara McKenty, chief creative officer at AKQA and chair of the judging panel, praised the campaign for recognizing the recipes and cultural identity of Lebanese women who had lost their homes and livelihoods as valuable assets.
Rather than treating the women solely as beneficiaries of charity, she said, the campaign enabled them to generate income from resources and cultural knowledge they already possessed.
Aurora Straton, global creative lead at Google, said donating money might have been the easiest option, but the campaign created a business model in which restaurants pay for the right to use the recipes, allowing participating women and their families to receive continuing income.
