[Here is the English version of the article] Busan, Prime Minister’s Office to Hear From Small Business Owners on Support Policies
The Busan Metropolitan Government and the Office of the Prime Minister’s Secretary will hold a meeting with local small business owners Tuesday to hear firsthand about the effectiveness of government support policies and discuss ways to revitalize local commercial districts.
The “Busan Small Business Field Communication Meeting” will take place at 2 p.m. Sept. 15 at Convention Hall 101 at BEXCO in Busan, with about 60 people expected to attend, including officials from the Prime Minister’s Office and Busan City, local merchants, experts, representatives of related agencies and citizens.
The meeting will focus on three main issues.
Participants will discuss how changes in consumer spending patterns driven by the growing number of visitors to Busan are affecting small businesses, as well as ways to improve the use of local currency.
They will also examine ways to reform support systems at the commercial-district level and expand national funding to better respond to increased tourism spending.
Another topic will be the need to streamline business regulations, including rules governing outdoor businesses and the use of public property, in line with changing demand from visitors.
Rather than serving as a one-way policy briefing, the meeting will feature presentations on the three topics, designated discussions and an open exchange of views.
Busan City plans to use the feedback to improve the effectiveness of its small business support policies and address issues that can be resolved at the municipal level. Issues requiring central government action will be shared with relevant government agencies.
“Small business support policies have meaning only when they actually help business owners and are felt on the ground,” Busan Mayor Jeon Jae-soo said. “I hope this meeting will provide a meaningful opportunity for the central government, the city and local small business owners to discuss their challenges and the policies they need.”
