[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 한국해양진흥공사(사장 안병길)는 오는 11일 오전 부산 본사에서 블룸버그와 함께 ‘해상공급망 세미나’를 개최한다고 5일 밝혔다. 이번 세미나는 공급망 관련 산업 종사자와 공공기관 관계자를 대상으로 열린다.  

이번 행사는 중동 지역 분쟁, 미중 전략 경쟁 심화, 유럽연합의 탄소국경조정제도(CBAM)와 배출권거래제(ETS) 시행 등으로 해상공급망의 불확실성이 커지는 가운데 해운·물류 산업의 대응 전략과 정책적 시사점을 모색하기 위해 마련됐다.  

특히 부산이 가진 해양수도이자 금융중심지로서의 강점을 살려 해양 산업 이슈를 금융, 정책, 산업 측면에서 종합적으로 논의하는 자리가 될 예정이다. 이번 세미나는 통역 없이 영어로 진행되며, 블룸버그 소속의 세계적인 분석가들이 연사로 참여한다.  

첫 번째 세션에서는 블룸버그 인텔리전스의 케네스 로 분석가가 해운시장의 불확실성 속 위험과 기회를 주제로 발표한다. 그는 글로벌 해운사 CMA-CGM에서 전략 매니저를 맡았던 경험을 바탕으로 실질적인 분석을 제시할 예정이다.  

두 번째 세션에서는 블룸버그 지오이코노믹스 분석가 마이클 덩이 연사로 나선다. 미국 상무부 반도체(CHIPS) 정책 자문관 출신인 그는 지정학과 산업 정책 변화가 해상공급망에 미치는 영향을 심층적으로 다룰 계획이다.  

해진공은 2024년 블룸버그와 전략적 업무협약을 맺은 이후 KCCI(컨테이너선운임지수)와 KDCI(건화물선운임지수) 등 KOBC 운임지수를 블룸버그 터미널에 등재하며 국내 해양 데이터의 글로벌 표준화를 추진해왔다. 이번 세미나는 해진공의 산업 정보와 블룸버그의 데이터 분석 역량을 결합해 부울경 지역의 금융 및 해양산업 경쟁력을 강화하는 계기가 될 것으로 보인다.  

안병길 사장은 “이번 세미나는 단순한 시장 동향 파악을 넘어 정책, 지정학, 금융 요인을 종합적으로 반영한 해법을 모색한다는 데 의의가 있다”며 “앞으로도 해운과 물류, 금융 산업의 질적 성장을 지원하기 위한 행사를 지속적으로 추진하겠다”고 말했다.

[Here're an English version of  the article] KOBC and Bloomberg to Co-Host “Maritime Supply Chain Seminar” in Busan 

The Korea Ocean Business Corporation (KOBC) announced on Feb. 5 that it will co-host the “Maritime Supply Chain Seminar” with Bloomberg at its Busan headquarters on Feb. 11. The event will bring together professionals from supply chain-related industries and public institutions to discuss strategies for coping with global supply chain disruptions.  

The seminar aims to explore response strategies and policy implications for the shipping and logistics industries amid rising uncertainties caused by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, intensifying U.S.-China competition, and tightening international environmental and carbon regulations, including the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and Emissions Trading System (ETS).  

Leveraging Busan’s position as both a maritime and financial hub, the event will provide a platform for comprehensive discussions on maritime industry issues from financial, policy, and industrial perspectives. The seminar will be conducted entirely in English and feature leading Bloomberg analysts as keynote speakers.  

The first session will feature Kenneth Loh, an analyst at Bloomberg Intelligence and former strategy manager at global shipping company CMA-CGM. He will analyze major risks and opportunities emerging in the maritime sector amid market volatility.  

In the following session, Michael Deng, a geo-economics analyst at Bloomberg and former advisor on semiconductor (CHIPS) policy at the U.S. Department of Commerce, will examine how shifts in global geopolitics and industrial policies are reshaping maritime supply chains and related sectors.  

Since signing a strategic cooperation agreement with Bloomberg in 2024, KOBC has worked to globalize Korea’s maritime data by listing the KOBC indices—such as the Korea Container Freight Index (KCCI) and the Korea Dry Bulk Freight Index (KDCI)—on Bloomberg terminals. KOBC expects the seminar to strengthen financial and maritime industry competitiveness in the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam region by combining KOBC’s industry insights with Bloomberg’s global data and analysis capabilities.  

KOBC President Ahn Byung-gil said the seminar goes beyond tracking market trends and aims to identify comprehensive solutions that integrate policy, geopolitical, and financial considerations. He added that KOBC will continue to organize events that support the qualitative growth of the shipping, logistics, and financial industries.
