[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 전재수 더불어민주당 부산시장 후보가 해양수도 부산 완성을 핵심 공약으로 내걸고 본격적인 선거 행보에 나섰다.

전재수 후보는 13일 국회 소통관에서 후보 확정 기자회견을 열고, 해양수산부 부산 이전을 시작으로 해양수도 부산의 꿈을 반드시 완성해 지역소멸 위기를 극복하겠다는 비전을 발표했다.

전 후보는 현재 부산이 직면한 지역소멸 위기를 잘못된 국가운영과 실행력 한계가 초래한 정치적 재해로 규정했다. 서울 수도권의 과밀화와 지방의 소멸 위기를 해결하기 위해 부산을 중심으로 한 새로운 국가 성장 동력이 필요함을 역설했다.

전 후보는 부산과 대한민국이 직면한 위기를 돌파할 해법으로 해양수도 부산을 제시했다. 부울경을 하나의 해양수도권으로 확장하고 포항, 여수, 광양을 잇는 북극항로 경제권역을 완성해 대한민국을 지탱할 또 다른 날개로 만들겠다는 구상을 밝혔다. 이는 이재명 정부의 지방 중심 성장전략의 출발점이자 국가적 생존전략이 될 것이라고 설명했다.

특히 전 후보는 해양수도 부산 완성이 이번 시장 선거 출마의 유일한 이유이자 목표임을 강조했다. 이재명 정부 초대 해양수산부 장관으로서 부산의 숙원이었던 해수부 이전을 5개월 만에 해결한 성과를 바탕으로 부산의 오랜 염원을 반드시 실현하겠다는 강한 의지를 드러냈다.

선거의 성격에 대해서는 진보와 보수의 대결이 아닌 유능과 무능, 일꾼과 말꾼, 미래와 과거를 선택하는 선거라고 정의했다. 일 잘하는 대통령과 함께 힘 있는 시장이 되어 오직 시민만을 위해 일하겠다는 각오를 전했다.

전 후보는 국민의힘 박형준 후보와의 본선 대결에서 준비된 실력과 검증된 성과로 정면 승부하겠다는 뜻을 밝혔다. 누가 더 부산을 위해 일을 잘할 수 있는지 시민 앞에서 제대로 경쟁해 반드시 승리하겠다고 다짐했다.

Jeon Jae-soo, the Democratic Party of Korea's candidate for Mayor of Busan, has officially launched his campaign, placing the completion of "Maritime Capital Busan" at the forefront of his vision for the city’s major leap forward.

During a press conference held at the National Assembly Communication Hall on the 13th, Candidate Jeon diagnosed the current regional extinction crisis as a "political disaster" resulting from flawed national management. He emphasized that the survival of Busan is directly linked to the survival of South Korea, stressing the urgent need for a balanced national development strategy.

As a solution to this crisis, Jeon proposed a strategy to transform Busan into a global maritime capital. This plan involves expanding the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam region into a unified maritime metropolitan area and establishing an "Arctic Route Economic Zone" connecting the industrial hubs of Pohang, Yeosu, and Gwangyang. He described this as a national survival strategy that would serve as the starting point for the Lee Jae-myung administration's regional growth policy.

Candidate Jeon identified the completion of the maritime capital as the sole reason for his candidacy. He highlighted his proven track record, noting that as the first Minister of Oceans and Fisheries under the Lee Jae-myung government, he successfully relocated the Ministry to Busan within just five months—a long-standing wish of the city's residents.

Regarding the character of the upcoming election, Jeon defined it as a choice between "competence and incompetence" and "a worker versus a talker." He pledged to become a powerful, hardworking mayor who collaborates with President Lee Jae-myung to revitalize the local economy and prioritize the needs of the citizens.

Finally, Jeon expressed his readiness for a direct showdown with the People Power Party candidate, Park Heong-joon. He vowed to prove his superior capabilities and achievements throughout the campaign, concluding with a strong commitment to winning the election and making the dream of a maritime capital a reality.
