[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 박형준 부산시장이 자신과 박완수 경남도지사가 공동 발의한 ‘경남·부산행정통합특별법’을 두고 민주당이 “뒷북 행정”이라고 비판한 데 대해 강하게 반박했다. 박 시장은 “행정통합은 국가 행정의 기둥과 서까래를 다시 세우는 일”이라며 “고작 ‘연합체’에 불과한 메가시티를 다시 들고나오는 것이야말로 진짜 뒷북”이라고 지적했다.  

그는 “행정통합은 단기간의 정치 이벤트가 아니라 지역 미래를 좌우할 국가적 과제”라며 “국민 세금을 미끼로 지자체를 끌어모으듯 추진할 사안이 아니다”라고 말했다.  

박 시장은 통합 추진의 두 가지 원칙으로 ▲지역의 자생적 혁신 역량 강화 ▲광범위한 주민 동의 확보를 제시하며 “이 두 가지를 빼놓고 밀어붙이는 통합은 실패할 수밖에 없다”고 강조했다. 그러면서 “이 때문에 특별법이라는 정공법을 택한 것”이라고 설명했다.  

이어 “민주당이 다시 ‘부울경 메가시티’ 구상을 꺼내든 것은 근본 개편을 회피하고 중앙정부 지원에 기대려는 구태 정치의 반복”이라며 “이제는 그런 정치, 그만할 때도 됐다”고 비판했다.

또 그는 민주당 내 후보들의 엇갈린 태도를 지적했다. “김경수, 김상욱 후보는 특별법 철회를 요구하지만, 부산시장 후보인 전재수 후보는 입을 닫고 있다”며 “부산 시민의 여론이 두렵거나 입장이 없는 것이냐”고 날을 세웠다.  

박 시장은 “전 후보는 더 이상 눈치 보지 말고 행정통합에 대한 입장을 분명히 밝혀야 한다”며 “부울경의 미래를 임시방편식 접근으로 허비할 수는 없다”고 강조했다.

Park emphasized that administrative integration is not a short-term political event but a major national task that requires careful preparation. “We cannot lure local governments with taxpayers’ money as if fishing for support,” he said, underscoring the need for sincerity in pursuing reform.  

He outlined two core principles for successful integration: strengthening regional self-innovation capacity and securing broad democratic consent from local residents. “Any integration that pushes forward without these principles is bound to fail,” Park said. “That is precisely why we chose the Special Act—because it follows the right path.”  

The mayor criticized the Democratic Party for once again promoting the Busan–Ulsan–Gyeongnam megacity concept, calling it a “temporary political fix that relies on central government funding instead of genuine reform.” He added, “It is time to move past that kind of politics.”  

Park also pointed out differing responses among Democratic Party candidates. “While Kim Kyung-soo and Kim Sang-wook strongly oppose the Special Act, demanding its withdrawal, Busan mayoral candidate Jeon Jae-soo remains silent,” he noted. “Is he afraid of public opinion in Busan, or does he simply have no stance?”  

He concluded by urging Jeon to clarify his position, saying, “The future of Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam cannot be wasted again on temporary, stopgap measures.”
