[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산대학교가 침체된 대학가 상권을 살리기 위해 지자체 및 기업과 손잡고 대규모 복합문화 공간 구축에 나섰다.

부산대와 롯데컬처웍스, 금정구청, 부산대상가총연합회가 함께 롯데시네마 오투 건물을 활용한 지역 상생 및 문화 활력 거점 조성을 위한 업무협약을 체결했다.

11일 대학본부 제1회의실에서 진행된 이번 협약은 대학의 자원을 지역 사회와 공유해 위축된 상권을 복합문화의 중심지로 재탄생시키려는 산학관민 협력 모델이다.

롯데시네마 오투 3개 층 활용 취창업 및 문화 공간 구축

협약에 따라 부산대는 롯데시네마 오투 건물의 지하 1층과 지상 3층, 8층 등 총 3개 층을 제공받아 다목적 공간으로 조성한다. 해당 공간은 대학의 교육 및 연구 지원은 물론 공연과 전시가 어우러지는 문화예술 프로그램 운영지로 활용될 예정이다.

특히 청년들의 창작과 창업을 돕는 지원 센터와 취업 프로그램 운영 공간이 마련되어 지역 산학협력의 핵심 기지 역할을 수행한다. 부산대는 지역 기업을 위한 맞춤형 컨설팅과 상권 연계 상생 프로그램을 통해 실질적인 지역 경제 활성화를 도모할 방침이다.

산학관민 역할 분담 통한 지역 혁신 생태계 강화

이번 사업은 참여 기관별로 역할을 세분화해 실행력을 높였다. 롯데컬처웍스는 시설 내 유휴 공간을 제공하고 부산대는 지역혁신중심 대학지원체계인 RISE 사업과 연계해 시설 개선 및 운영 방안을 수립한다.

금정구청은 행정적 정책적 지원을 뒷받침하며 상가총연합회는 문화 공연 기획과 홍보 마케팅을 담당해 민간 차원의 협력을 이어간다.

부산대는 이번 프로젝트를 통해 대학 인프라를 주민과 공유하고 청년 인구의 유입을 촉진함으로써 대학 중심의 지역 혁신 생태계를 구축한다는 구상이다. 이를 통해 문화 콘텐츠 확산과 대학가 상권 회복이라는 선순환 구조가 정착될 것으로 기대하고 있다.

공공성 및 지역 성장 견인

박상후 부산대 대외전략부총장은 "이번 협약이 대학과 지역사회가 동반 성장할 수 있는 복합문화 플랫폼의 시발점이 될 것"이라고 강조했다. 박 부총장은 "국가거점 국립대학교로서 공공성과 책무성을 바탕으로 지역 경제 활성화와 문화 가치 창출에 최선을 다하겠다"고 밝혔다.

Pusan National University (PNU) has launched a large-scale project to establish a complex cultural hub in collaboration with local government and private enterprises to revitalize the stagnant commercial district around the campus.

PNU, Lotte Cultureworks, Geumjeong-gu Office, and the Pusan National University Merchant Association have signed a four-party Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to transform the Lotte Cinema O2 building into a center for regional synergy and cultural vitality.

The agreement, signed on the 11th at the university headquarters, serves as a strategic cooperation model among industry, academia, government, and the community. It aims to share the university's resources with the local society and transform the declining commercial area into a vibrant hub for complex cultural activities.

Transforming Three Floors of Lotte Cinema O2 into Employment and Culture Hub

Under the agreement, PNU will utilize three floors of the Lotte Cinema O2 building—the basement level, 3rd floor, and 8th floor—to create multipurpose spaces. These areas will support the university's educational and research activities while hosting various cultural and artistic programs such as performances and exhibitions.

The designated spaces will also function as a core base for regional industry-academic cooperation, featuring support centers for youth creativity and entrepreneurship, as well as job placement programs. PNU plans to drive practical local economic growth by providing customized consulting for regional businesses and operating win-win cooperation programs linked to the local market.

Strengthening Regional Innovation Through Strategic Role Sharing

The project enhances effectiveness and sustainability by subdividing roles among the four participating entities. Lotte Cultureworks will provide the physical space within Lotte Cinema O2, while PNU will develop plans for facility improvement and space utilization in connection with the Regional Innovation System & Education (RISE) project.

Geumjeong-gu Office will provide administrative and policy support, and the Pusan National University Merchant Association will handle performance planning, promotion, and marketing. Through this project, PNU aims to build a university-centered regional innovation ecosystem by sharing infrastructure with residents and encouraging the influx of young people, ultimately fostering a virtuous cycle of cultural expansion and economic recovery.

Leading Regional Growth as a Flagship National University

Park Sang-hoo, Executive Vice President for External and Strategic Affairs at PNU and Director of the RISE Project, emphasized that this agreement marks the beginning of a complex cultural platform where the university and the local community can grow together.

Vice President Park stated that PNU would fulfill its public responsibility as a flagship national university by focusing on its role as an innovation hub that fosters regional growth, creates cultural value, and supports youth employment and entrepreneurship.
