[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 개교 80주년을 맞은 부산대학교는 20일 오전 교내 경암체육관에서 2026년 2월 학위수여식을 개최했다.  

이날 학위수여식에서는 학사 3,009명, 석사 1,387명, 박사 247명 등 총 4,643명이 학위를 받았다. 행사는 학사 보고, 총장 식사, 총동문회장 축사, 졸업생 답사, 우수졸업생 시상, 축하 연주 및 교가 제창 순으로 진행됐다.  

1946년 5월 15일 우리나라 최초의 종합 국립대로 문을 연 부산대는 지금까지 28만여 명의 동문을 배출하며 산업화와 민주화의 과정 속에서 지역과 국가 발전에 기여해 왔다. 최근에는 AI 대전환 시대 혁신과 교육·연구 성과를 바탕으로 QS 아시아대학평가에서 국내 국립대 1위를 기록했다.  

최재원 총장은 식사에서 “졸업생 여러분은 이제 한 시대의 배움을 마치고 새로운 문 앞에 서 있다”며 “AI 시대는 불안과 도전의 시기이지만 동시에 기회의 문이 가장 공정하게 열려 있는 시대이기도 하다. 모든 것은 자신의 역량에 달려 있다”고 말했다.  

그는 “기술과 함께 세상의 가치를 새롭게 정의하는 세대가 되어 달라”며 “부산대에서의 배움이 앞으로 올바른 길을 선택하고 위대한 꿈을 꾸는 힘이 될 것”이라고 격려했다. 또한 “80년 전 ‘민족의 천년을 책임지는 대학’이라는 비전으로 시작한 부산대처럼, 여러분도 사회와 국가의 미래를 책임지는 인재가 되어 달라”고 강조했다.

Pusan National University, marking its 80th anniversary this year, held its February 2026 commencement ceremony Friday morning at the Kyeongam Gymnasium on campus.  

A total of 4,643 students received degrees, including 3,009 bachelor’s, 1,387 master’s, and 247 doctoral graduates. The ceremony featured reports, a commencement address by President Choi Jae-won, congratulatory remarks from the alumni association, an address by a student representative, awards for outstanding graduates, musical performances, and a chorus of the school song.  

Founded on May 15, 1946, as South Korea’s first national university, Busan National University has produced 280,000 alumni who have contributed to the nation’s industrialization and democratization. The university continues to advance innovation in the era of artificial intelligence and remains the top-ranked national university in Korea in the QS Asia University Rankings.  

In his address, President Choi told the graduates they were standing at “the threshold of a new era,” urging them to see the AI era not only as a time of challenge and uncertainty but also as one of opportunity. “Everything depends on your own abilities,” he said. He encouraged students to “redefine the values of the world through technology” and to use their learning as “the strength to choose the right path and dream greatly.”  

Choi also called on graduates to follow the founding vision of Busan National University as “a university responsible for a millennium of the nation,” asking them to become leaders who will “shoulder the next thousand years of society and country with even greater purpose.”
