[브레이쿠뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산시와 양산시는 30일 양산선 차량기지에서 도시철도 양산선 운영 업무협약을 체결하며 부산과 양산을 잇는 광역 교통망 완성에 속도를 냈다. 이 경전철 노선은 6월 준공 후 연내 개통을 목표로 두 도시 주민들의 생활권 확대를 앞당길 전망이다.

협약식에는 박형준 부산시장과 나동연 양산시장, 이병진 부산교통공사 사장, 조은제 우진메트로양산 대표이사, 곽영진 우진산전 전무 등 관계자 20여 명이 참석했다. 오후 2시 시작된 행사는 공동 운영 체계 구축을 공식화하는 자리로, 지역 상생 의지를 확인했다.

협약의 주요 내용은 ▲양산선 본구간(노포역~북정역)과 부산도시철도 2호선 연결구간(양산역~양산중앙역)에 대한 운영 업무 분담 ▲운영 경비 부담 및 운수수익 귀속 기준 마련 ▲부산도시철도와 동일 운임제 적용 및 내부 환승 운영 ▲안전관리 및 이용객 편의 증진을 위한 협력체계 구축 등이다.

양산선 본구간(노포역~북정역, 약 9.7km)은 양산시가, 2호선 연장구간(양산역~양산중앙역, 약 1.73km)은 부산시가 운영한다. 총 11.43km, 9개역 규모로 무인 자동운행을 도입해 하루 최대 10만 명 수송이 가능하다. 운영 경비 분담과 수익 배분 기준도 마련해 재정 안정성을 높인다.

부산 지하철과 동일 요금제를 적용하고 개찰구 없이 환승하는 직결 운행을 도입한다. 무장애 구조로 장애인·노약자 편의가 강화되며, 안전관리 매뉴얼 공유와 비상대응 훈련 등 협력 체계도 구축했다.

노포역에서 출발해 물금·양산 등을 거쳐 북정역까지 연결되며, 최고 시속 80km로 버스 대비 이동시간을 30% 줄인다. 통합 교통카드 환승 할인도 제공하며, 총 사업비는 5천억원 규모다.

부산·양산 생활권 통합으로 출퇴근과 경제·문화 교류가 활성화될 전망이다. 양산 신도시 개발과 부산 동부권 활황을 견인하며 동남권 광역교통 모델로 자리 잡을 가능성이 크다.

박형준 시장은 "양산선이 두 도시를 하나의 생활권으로 만든다"며 "이번 협약으로 상생 기반을 다졌고, 시민 편의 중심 교통망을 확대하겠다"고 밝혔다. 양산시는 개통 첫해 이용객 300만 명을 예상한다.

Busan and Yangsan cities signed an operating agreement for the Yangsan Line urban rail on March 30 at the line's depot, accelerating the integration of a cross-border transit network. The light rail route, set for completion in June and opening later this year, promises to knit the two cities into a single daily living sphere for residents.

The signing ceremony drew about 20 officials, including Busan Mayor Park Heung-joon, Yangsan Mayor Na Dong-yeon, Busan Transportation Corp. President Lee Byung-jin, Woوجin Metro Yangsan CEO Jo Eun-je, and Wo진 Sanjeon Executive Director Kwak Young-jin. Held at 2 p.m., the event formalized joint operations and underscored regional collaboration.

The pact covers operational division for the Yangsan Line main section (Nopo Station to Bukjeong Station) and Busan Metro Line 2 extension (Yangsan Station to Yangsan Central Station), standards for sharing operating costs and allocating transport revenue, uniform fares matching Busan's metro system with seamless internal transfers, and a cooperative framework for safety management and passenger convenience enhancements.

Yangsan will run the main section from Nopo Station to Bukjeong Station (about 9.7 km), while Busan handles the Line 2 extension from Yangsan Station to Yangsan Central Station (1.73 km). Spanning 11.43 km with nine stations, the line introduces driverless automated trains capable of transporting up to 100,000 passengers daily. The pact also sets clear rules for cost-sharing and revenue allocation to ensure financial stability.

It aligns fares with Busan's subway system and enables seamless transfers without exiting gates. Barrier-free connections boost accessibility for the disabled and elderly, complemented by shared safety protocols, joint emergency drills, and integrated passenger information systems.

Starting at Nopo on Line 1, the route passes Mulgeum and central Yangsan before reaching Bukjeong, linking Busan’s core to Yangsan’s new town. Topping 80 km/h, it cuts bus travel times by over 30 percent, with transfer discounts via unified transit cards. The project’s 500 billion won ($360 million) cost was split between national and local funds.

The line will fuse Busan and Yangsan into one commuter zone, spurring economic and cultural exchanges. It should drive growth in Yangsan’s new developments and Busan’s eastern districts, emerging as a template for southeast regional transit.

Park hailed the line as infrastructure “turning two cities into one true urban area.” He said the deal lays “the foundation for mutual prosperity,” vowing to prioritize rider convenience and expand linkages. Yangsan projects 3 million passengers in year one.
