[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산국제영화제가 박가언 수석 프로그래머를 신임 부집행위원장으로 위촉했다고 9일 밝혔다.  

박 신임 부집행위원장은 2009년 부산국제영화제에 합류해 홍보팀, 프로그램팀, 초청팀 등 주요 부서를 거쳐 프로그램 실장과 월드 프로그래머, 수석 프로그래머를 역임했다. 17년 동안 한 축을 담당해 온 영화제 실무 전문가로, 프로그램 선정과 게스트 초청, 행사 운영 및 홍보 전반을 아우르는 폭넓은 경험을 쌓아왔다.  

영화제 측은 “박 부집행위원장이 그동안 현장에서 쌓아온 실무 역량과 조직 운영 경험을 바탕으로 대내외 협력 강화와 영화제의 내실화를 이끌 것으로 기대한다”고 밝혔다.  

박 부집행위원장은 “오랜 시간 함께한 영화제가 시대의 변화 속에서도 안정적으로 성장할 수 있도록 소통과 협력의 중심 역할을 하겠다”고 소감을 전했다.  

부산국제영화제는 이번 인사를 통해 사무국의 실무 체계를 한층 강화하고, 유기적 협업 기반을 다져 지속 가능한 영화제 운영 시스템을 이어가겠다는 방침이다.

한편 제31회 부산국제영화제는 오는 10월 6일부터 15일까지 열흘간 부산 영화의전당 일대에서 열린다.

The Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) has appointed Park Ga-eon, its chief programmer, as the new deputy director, the festival announced on Monday.  

Park joined BIFF in 2009 and has since served in key roles across the publicity, programming, and guest invitation teams. Over her 17-year career with the festival, she has established herself as a veteran expert, with extensive experience spanning program selection, guest curation, event planning, and communications.  

“We expect Deputy Director Park to strengthen internal and external cooperation and enhance the operational stability of the festival, drawing on her wide-ranging on-site experience,” the festival’s organizing committee said in a statement.  

Park said she aims to “serve as a bridge for open communication and collaboration, helping the festival continue to grow sustainably amid changing times.”  

With this new appointment, BIFF seeks to reinforce its operational structure and continue building an efficient and cohesive organizational system.  

Park Ga-eon, newly appointed deputy director of the Busan International Film Festival, was born in 1975 and is 51 years old. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Aesthetics from Seoul National University and completed a graduate program in Arts Management at Chung-Ang University’s Graduate School of Arts.  

Before joining the festival, Park worked at CJ Entertainment in the Corporate Strategy and Marketing teams. Since joining BIFF, she has served in various key roles including positions in the Public Relations Team, World Cinema Team, Invitation Team, Program Department as Director, World Programmer, and most recently as Chief Programmer.  

The 31st Busan International Film Festival will take place from Oct. 6 to 15 at the Busan Cinema Center.
