[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산시립미술관이 오는 4월부터 6월까지 국제 디지털 미디어아트 페스티벌 ‘2026 루프 랩 부산’을 개최한다.

올해로 두 번째를 맞는 이번 행사는 부산 전역의 공공기관과 민간 전시장 30여 곳에서 순차적으로 열리며, 도시 전체가 하나의 거대한 미술관으로 확장되는 특별한 예술 실험이 펼쳐진다.  

‘루프 랩 부산’은 시간과 이미지를 매개로 하는 디지털 미디어아트 축제로, 전시와 포럼, 아티스트 토크, 페어 등 다양한 프로그램을 통해 예술의 새로운 가능성을 탐구한다.  

올해 행사의 핵심 주제는 ‘공유와 협력’이다. 부산시립미술관을 비롯해 부산박물관, F1963, 부산문화재단 등 공공기관과 함께 이웰갤러리, 국제갤러리 부산, 디오티미술관, 갤러리 재희 등 민간 전시장도 참여해 공공과 민간, 예술과 일상의 경계를 허무는 열린 예술 장을 만든다.  

주요 프로그램으로는 디지털 기술 속 새로운 예술 감각을 탐구하는 ‘디지털 서브컬처’와 아시아 영상 예술의 흐름을 소개하는 ‘무빙 온 아시아’가 있다. 특히 아시아 13개국 16명의 기획자가 참여하는 ‘아시아 큐레이터스 포럼’에서는 아시아 영상 예술의 현재와 미래를 주제로 토론이 진행되며, 지역과 국가를 넘는 예술 네트워크 확대가 기대된다.

협력 프로젝트 ‘제로 랩 부산’은 페스티벌의 포문을 여는 프리뷰 전시로, 도모헌에서 열리는 ‘점과 시간 사이의 무한한 층위’를 시작으로 부산 곳곳에서 순차적으로 전시가 이어진다.

김미래, 박영환, 조정현, 무나씨 등 부산을 기반으로 활동하는 작가들이 회화, 영상, 사진, 홀로그램 등 다양한 매체로 현실과 환영의 경계를 표현하며, 광운대학교 홀로그램 센터와의 기술 협력을 통해 첨단 예술의 실험성을 강화했다.  

이 밖에도 지역 예술가와 단체가 참여하는 아트페어 ‘루프 플러스’와 작가와 관객이 직접 소통하는 토크 프로그램 등 시민이 함께 즐길 수 있는 다양한 연계 행사가 마련된다.  

서진석 부산시립미술관장은 “이번 행사는 대중문화와 현대미술의 경계를 넘어 예술의 사회적 확장 가능성을 보여주는 자리”라며 “부산의 여러 문화공간이 하나로 연결돼 시민이 일상 속에서 새로운 예술적 경험을 체감할 수 있을 것”이라고 말했다. 2026 루프 랩 부산에 대한 자세한 내용은 부산시립미술관 누리집에서 확인할 수 있다.  

[Here’s the English version of the article] Busan to Become One Big Museum as 2026 Loop Lab Opens in April

The Busan Museum of Art will hold the international digital media art festival 2026 Loop Lab Busan from April to June across the city. Marking its second edition, the festival will transform more than 30 public and private cultural venues throughout Busan into a massive citywide art exhibition.  

Loop Lab Busan explores the intersection of time and image through exhibitions, forums, artist talks, and public programs designed to present new possibilities of digital media art.  

The central theme of this year’s festival is sharing and collaboration. Public institutions such as the Busan Museum of Art, Busan Museum, F1963, and the Busan Cultural Foundation will join private galleries including Ewha Gallery, Kukje Gallery Busan, Theot Museum, and Gallery Jaehee. Through their cooperation, the festival aims to blur boundaries between public and private, art and everyday life.  

Major exhibitions include Digital Subculture, which examines cultural sensibilities born in the digital era, and Moving on Asia, which introduces major trends in contemporary Asian moving image art. The Asia Curators Forum will bring together 16 curators from 13 Asian countries to discuss the present and future of video art and to strengthen regional networks for artistic exchange.  

The collaborative project Zero Lab Busan will open the festival with its preview exhibition Layers Between Dots and Time at DOMOHUN. It will feature Busan based artists Kim Mirae, Park Younghwan, and Cho Junghyun, along with Moona, known for her monochrome drawings. The artists will present works employing painting, photography, video, and hologram media that explore the boundaries between reality and illusion. The hologram pieces were created in partnership with the Hologram Center at Kwangwoon University, combining regional art with advanced technology.  

Additional programs include the art fair Loop Plus, organized by local art collectives, and various artist talks and public events that invite citizens to engage directly with the festival.  

Busan Museum of Art Director Seo Jinseok said that the event aims to expand the boundaries of art beyond contemporary and popular culture, fostering a new ecosystem of creativity based on collaboration.
