[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 박형준 부산시장은 오는 29일 영도구 동삼혁신지구에서 복합문화공간 ‘새모’ 개관식을 열고 “정주여건 개선과 도시 재도약을 이끄는 핵심 거점이 될 것”이라고 밝혔다.

부산시에 따르면 이날 오후 2시 열리는 개관식에는 안성민 시의회 의장, 조승환 국회의원, 김기재 영도구청장, 시의원과 구의원, 이전 공공기관 임직원, 지역 주민 등 100여 명이 참석한다. 행사는 식전공연을 시작으로 경과보고, 인사말, 제막식, 시설 관람, 토크콘서트 순으로 진행된다.

‘새모’는 동삼혁신도시 정주여건 개선 사업의 일환으로 조성된 복합문화시설로, 이전 공공기관 종사자와 지역 주민이 함께 이용하는 생활 밀착형 문화·여가 공간이다. 삼각형 부지의 건축적 특성과 ‘새롭게 모두가 모이는 공간’이라는 의미를 결합해 명명됐다.

시설은 들락날락 공간과 전시공연장, 문화강좌실, 공동육아나눔터, 기업 지원 공간, 야외계단광장 등으로 구성됐다. 문화와 교육, 돌봄, 여가 기능을 유기적으로 결합해 일상 속 이용 편의성과 체류성을 높인 것이 특징이다. 특히 가족 단위 이용객을 위한 돌봄 공간과 시민 참여형 프로그램 운영을 통해 지역 커뮤니티 활성화 거점으로 기능할 전망이다.

부산시는 계절별 기획 전시와 공연, 문화강좌, 체험 프로그램, 시민 참여형 행사 등을 연중 운영해 문화 향유 기회를 확대하고 혁신도시 내 정주 만족도를 높일 계획이다. 개관과 함께 진행되는 이슬로 작가 특별전 ‘하모니’는 공간의 정체성인 ‘문화의 프리즘’을 상징적으로 보여주는 전시로 기획됐다.

이날 2부 행사에서는 ‘혁신도시 정주여건 개선 및 지역 발전 방향’을 주제로 토크콘서트가 열린다. 박 시장과 이전 공공기관 직원, 지역 주민이 직접 참여하는 질의응답 형식으로 진행되며, 2차 공공기관 이전을 앞두고 주거, 문화, 교육, 생활 인프라 등 정주 환경 전반을 점검하고 개선 방안을 모색하는 자리가 될 전망이다. 시는 이를 통해 이전 기관 종사자들의 안정적 정착을 지원하고 지역과의 상생 기반을 강화한다는 방침이다.

‘새모’는 부산시가 최근 발표한 ‘영도 100년의 부활 프로젝트’의 출발을 알리는 상징적 사업이다. 시는 해양과학 산학연 협력센터 조성과 영블루벨트 사업을 연계해 해양 특화 혁신도시를 구축하고, 한국해양대학교와 한국해양과학기술원, 한국해양수산개발원 등과 협력을 강화해 영도를 글로벌 해양 연구개발 중심지로 육성할 계획이다.

이와 함께 부산남고 이전 부지에는 대형 케이팝 공연시설을 조성하고, 태종대와 감지해변 일원에는 해양 경관을 활용한 국제관광단지를 개발하는 등 문화·관광 인프라도 확충할 방침이다. 이를 통해 연구개발, 문화, 관광이 결합된 복합 성장 축을 구축한다는 전략이다.

박 시장은 “새모 개관은 동삼혁신도시 정주여건 개선의 실질적 출발점”이라며 “문화와 생활 인프라 확충을 통해 영도에 새로운 활력을 불어넣고 지속 가능한 성장 기반을 마련하겠다”고 말했다.

[Here’s an English version of the article] Busan opens ‘Saemo’ cultural complex in Yeongdo to boost livability and regional growth

Park Heong-joon on Saturday inaugurated the Busan Complex Cultural Space “Saemo” in Yeongdo District, calling it “a key hub for improving livability and driving the city’s next phase of growth.”

According to the Busan Metropolitan Government, the opening ceremony, held at 2 p.m. in the Dongsam Innovation District, was attended by about 100 people, including local officials, lawmakers, employees of relocated public institutions and residents. The event featured a pre-ceremony performance, progress report, remarks, unveiling, facility tour and a talk concert.

“Saemo” was developed as part of a broader initiative to enhance living conditions in the innovation district, where multiple public institutions have relocated. The name reflects both the triangular shape of the site and the idea of “a new space where everyone gathers.”

The complex integrates a range of facilities, including a children’s “Deullak Nallak” space, an exhibition and performance hall, lecture rooms, a shared childcare center, business support space and an outdoor stepped plaza. The design combines culture, education, childcare and leisure functions to create a community-centered environment that supports daily life.

City officials said Saemo will host year-round exhibitions, performances, cultural classes and hands-on programs, as well as community-driven events aimed at expanding access to culture and strengthening local engagement. A special exhibition titled “Harmony” by artist Lee Seullo is being held to mark the opening, highlighting the venue’s identity as a “prism of culture.”

A talk concert scheduled as part of the opening will bring together Park, employees of relocated institutions and local residents to discuss ways to improve living conditions and regional development strategies ahead of a planned second phase of public institution relocations. The session will focus on housing, infrastructure and quality-of-life issues to support long-term settlement in the area.

Saemo is also positioned as a symbolic starting point for the city’s long-term initiative, the “Yeongdo 100-Year Revival Project.” Under the plan, Busan aims to build a marine-focused innovation cluster by strengthening cooperation with key institutions such as Korea Maritime and Ocean University, the Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology and the Korea Maritime Institute.

The city also plans to develop a K-pop arena on the former Busan Nam High School site and create an international tourism complex around Taejongdae and Gamji Beach, leveraging Yeongdo’s coastal landscape.

“The opening of Saemo marks a meaningful first step in improving livability in the innovation district and launching Yeongdo’s long-term development vision,” Park said. “We will inject new growth momentum into the area and build a sustainable foundation for the future.”
