[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산시는 2일 오전 2026년 병오년 새해 업무를 시작하는 시무식을 박형준 시장을 비롯해 시 간부, 산하기관 대표, 포상 수상자 등 700여 명이 참석한 가운데 시청 대강당에서 개최했다.  

 

이날 시무식은 '다시 태어나도 살고 싶은 부산'을 만들겠다는 의지를 담은 영상 상영을 시작으로 ▲공무원헌장 낭독▲시책추진 유공 및 으뜸부서 시상 ▲박 시장의 신년사 등의 순으로 진행됐다. 

 

박형준 시장은 신년사에서 “붉은 말의 해인 올해는 강한 추진력과 변화의 에너지를 바탕으로 부산이 글로벌 허브도시로서 괄목할 만한 성과를 내는 한 해가 되길 바란다”고 강조했다.  

 

박 시장은 “지난 3년간 부산은 ‘글로벌 허브도시’와 ‘다시 태어나도 살고 싶은 도시’를 목표로 도시의 체질을 바꾸며 달려왔다”며 “그 과정에서 부산의 희망과 잠재력을 확인했다”고 말했다.  

 

이어 그는 물류·산업·금융·인재·문화 등 5대 분야의 시정 성과를 언급하며 “가덕도신공항 조속 추진, 부산형 급행철도, 첨단 물류기업 유치 등으로 부산이 미래형 물류 허브로 전환하고 있다”고 했다.

 

특히 “투자유치 규모가 역대 최대인 8조 원으로 확대되고, 상용근로자 수와 고용률이 최고치를 기록하는 등 경제 체질이 뚜렷한 상승세를 보이고 있다”고 강조했다.  

 

금융·창업 분야 성과에 대해서도 “부산창업기술투자원과 디지털자산거래소 설립, 플라이 아시아 등으로 금융·창업 생태계를 조성했다”며 “국제금융센터지수 24위, 아시아 스타트업 생태계 20위권 진입은 부산의 금융중심지 위상을 높인 결과”라고 평가했다.  

 

또한 “외국인 관광객 350만 명 달성, 페스티벌 시월과 세븐브릿지 투어, 부산콘서트홀 개관 등은 부산을 ‘다시 찾고 싶은 도시’로 자리매김하게 했다”며 “APEC 에너지장관회의, 아워 오션 콘퍼런스 등의 개최로 ‘부산이 하면 다르다’는 평가를 세계에 각인시켰다”고 강조했다.

박 시장은 “글로벌 허브도시의 궁극적 목적은 시민의 행복”이라며 15분 도시 정책, 부산형 통합 늘봄 정책, 어린이집 무상교육 확대 등 시민 체감형 변화를 강조했다. 이어 “낙동강 교량 착공, 취수원 다변화, 금정산 국립공원 지정, 수영만 요트경기장 재개발, 공동어시장 현대화 등 숙원사업 해결로 부산의 새로운 성장동력을 마련하고 있다”고 덧붙였다.  

 

그는 “2026년은 중앙에 기대기보다 부산이 주도적으로 미래를 설계해야 할 시기”라며 “가덕도신공항, 북극항로 거점 항만, 동북아 물류 플랫폼 구상 등 부산이 선제적으로 밑그림을 제시해야 한다”고 했다.  

 

박 시장은 “정책과 사업의 완성도를 높이고 시민의 생명과 안전, 민생과 직결된 기본에 충실해야 한다”며 “성과를 수치와 지표로 시민과 언론에 적극 설명해 시정 신뢰를 높여달라”고 당부했다.

 

그러면서, 박 시장은 “민선 8기와 9기가 교차하는 중요한 시기인 만큼 ‘글로벌 허브도시’, ‘다시 태어나도 살고 싶은 부산’이라는 두 축을 중심으로 흔들림 없는 시정을 이어가 달라”고 주문했다.

한편, 시무식에 앞서 박 시장은 새해 1일 충렬사, 충혼탑, 유엔기념공원, 3대 성역에서 시 간부들과 신년 참배를 했고, 2일 오전에는 부산공동어시장에서 열린 초매식에 참석해 풍요로운 한해를 기원했다.

 

[Here’s the English version of the news article] The City of Busan held its 2026 New Year’s Opening Ceremony on the morning of January 2 at the city hall auditorium, marking the official start of the Year of Byeongo (Year of the Red Horse). The event was attended by about 700 people, including Mayor Park Heong-joon, senior city officials, heads of affiliated organizations, and award recipients.  

 

The ceremony began with a video presentation expressing the city’s commitment to creating “Busan, a city where people wish to live again,” followed by the reading of the Civil Servants’ Charter, commendations for outstanding departments and individuals in policy implementation, and Mayor Park’s New Year’s address. 

 

In his New Year’s address, Mayor Park said, “In this Year of the Red Horse, I hope Busan will achieve remarkable growth as a global hub city, driven by strong momentum and energy for change.”  

 

Reflecting on the past three years, he noted, “We have worked tirelessly to transform Busan into a ‘Global Hub City’ and a ‘City People Want to Live in Again.’ Through that journey, we have witnessed the hope and potential that Busan holds.”  

 

Highlighting the city’s achievements across five key sectors—logistics, industry, finance, talent, and culture—Mayor Park said Busan is “evolving into a next-generation logistics hub” through the accelerated development of the Gadeokdo New Airport, the Busan High-Speed Transit Project, and the attraction of advanced logistics companies. He emphasized that “Busan’s economy is entering a clear upward phase, with record-high investment of 8 trillion won, all-time peaks in employment and the number of full-time workers.”  

 

On financial and startup development, Park pointed to the establishment of the Busan Startup Investment Authority, a digital asset exchange, and the FLY ASIA forum, saying these have “strengthened Busan’s position as a leading financial center,” as reflected in its rise to 24th place in the Global Financial Centres Index and into the top 20 among Asian startup ecosystems.  

 

Addressing tourism and culture, he said, “With nearly 3.5 million foreign visitors in 2025—the highest ever—Busan has firmly established itself as a city people want to revisit.” He added that events such as *Festival October*, the *Seven Bridges Tour*, the opening of the Busan Concert Hall, and the city’s success in hosting all major professional sports teams have elevated its urban brand. Major international events, such as the APEC Energy Ministers’ Meeting and the *Our Ocean Conference*, have also “proven to the world that Busan delivers excellence.”  

 

Emphasizing citizen-centered policies, the mayor said the city’s vision as a global hub ultimately aims to enhance residents’ happiness. He cited initiatives such as the 15-Minute City concept, integrated childcare programs, free daycare for children aged 3 to 5, and progress in birth and marriage rates. He also mentioned key infrastructure projects, including new Nakdong River bridges, diversified water sourcing, the designation of Geumjeongsan as a national park, the redevelopment of the Suyeong Bay Yachting Center, and modernization of the Cooperative Fish Market.  

 

“2026 must be a year when Busan takes the lead in designing its own future rather than depending on the central government,” Park stressed, calling for proactive leadership in projects such as the Gadeokdo New Airport, Arctic shipping routes, and the Northeast Asia logistics platform.  

 

Concluding his speech, Park said, “Now is the time to enhance the quality of our policies, focus on citizens’ safety and livelihoods, and build greater trust through transparency and measurable results.” He urged city employees to “maintain steadfast governance under the twin goals of a ‘Global Hub City’ and a ‘City Worth Living in Again,’ as we stand at the crossroads of the 8th and 9th municipal administrations.” 

 

Meanwhile, ahead of the New Year’s opening ceremony, Mayor Park paid New Year visits with city officials on January 1 to Chungnyeolsa Shrine, the Chungchon Tower, the UN Memorial Cemetery, and the Three Sacred Sites. On the morning of January 2, he attended the first auction ceremony held at the Busan Cooperative Fish Market, where he prayed for a year of abundance.
