[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 국민의힘 박성훈 수석대변인은 7일 이재명 대통령의 중국 국빈 방문과 관련해 “서해 주권 문제에서는 중국의 입장을 그대로 대변하고, 북핵 문제에서는 사실상 핵 보유를 용인하는 발언을 했다”며 “국익과 안보를 스스로 훼손하는 자해 외교”라고 강하게 비판했다.

 

■ “서해 불법 구조물, 주권 침해 우려 외면한 채 중국 해명 반복”

박 수석대변인은 이날 논평에서 이 대통령이 중국 방문 중 기자단 간담회에서 서해 불법 구조물 설치 문제를 두고 “중국 쪽 경계에 살짝 넘어온 것”, “양식장 관리 시설”이라고 언급한 점을 문제 삼았다.

 

그는 “중국의 불법 행위 여부나 우리 해양 주권 침해 가능성에 대한 분명한 지적이나 강력한 항의는 전혀 없었다”며 “철수 시점과 방식, 법적 책임에 대한 언급도 없이 중국 측 설명을 사실상 그대로 옮겼다”고 지적했다.

 

이어 “이를 ‘관리 시설 철수 합의’라는 말로 포장해 성과처럼 홍보한 것은 국민을 기만하는 것”이라며 “주권 침해 사안 앞에서 국민의 우려를 해소하기는커녕 중국의 입장을 정당화하는 모습만 보였다”고 비판했다.

 

■ “문제 제기 언론에 ‘왜곡’ 운운…저자세 외교의 민낯”

박 수석대변인은 이 대통령이 관련 보도를 한 언론을 향해 ‘왜곡’이라는 표현을 사용한 데 대해서도 강한 유감을 표했다.

 

그는 “국익과 주권이 걸린 사안을 지적하는 언론에 훈계하듯 대응하는 태도는 비굴한 저자세 외교의 민낯을 보여준 것”이라며 “대통령이 해야 할 역할은 중국을 변호하는 것이 아니라 국민의 우려를 해소하는 것”이라고 강조했다.

 

■ “북핵 불가능론·동결론은 핵 보유 전제…안보 자해 발언”

북핵 문제에 대한 이 대통령의 발언도 도마에 올랐다. 이 대통령은 “북한이 지금 핵을 없애는 데 동의하겠느냐, 불가능하다”, “현재 상태에서 중단하는 것만으로도 이익이니 보상과 타협이 가능하다”고 언급한 바 있다.

 

이에 대해 박 수석대변인은 “이는 북한의 핵 보유를 사실상 전제로 한 핵 동결·관리론”이라며 “북한 정권에 시간과 보상을 제공해 핵 능력을 제도화하는 결과만 초래할 것”이라고 비판했다.

 

또 “미국을 비롯한 국제사회가 견지해 온 ‘완전한 비핵화’ 원칙과도 정면으로 배치되는 발언으로, 명백한 안보 자해”라고 꼬집었다.

 

■ “중국에 북핵 역할 요청했다지만…중국 발표문엔 언급조차 없어”

정부가 중국에 북핵 문제에서의 역할을 당부했다고 설명한 데 대해서도 신뢰성에 의문을 제기했다. 박 수석대변인은 “정작 중국 측 발표문에는 한반도나 비핵화에 대한 언급조차 없었다”며 “비핵화라는 분명한 목표가 흐려졌음에도 ‘중재 역할 요청’이라는 말로 변명만 늘어놓고 있다”고 지적했다.

 

■ “공동성명·실질 성과 없는 방중…중국 대변·폰 홍보만 남겨”

박 수석대변인은 이번 국빈 방중의 실질적 성과에 대해서도 부정적인 평가를 내렸다. 그는 “공동성명도, 구체적 합의도, 실질적 진전도 없이 끝난 방중이 과연 무엇을 남겼는지 묻지 않을 수 없다”며 “외교적 실익 없이 중국의 입장만 대변하고, 특정 중국 스마트폰 홍보만 부각된 방문을 실용외교라 부를 수는 없다”고 평가절하 했다.

 

이어 “서해 주권 문제에서는 중국 대변인을 자처하고, 북핵 문제에서는 핵 보유를 전제로 한 타협을 언급하는 이재명식 외교가 과연 국익을 지키는 외교인지 국민은 묻고 있다”며 “이번 국빈 방중이 과연 누구를 위한 외교였는지 정부는 분명히 답해야 한다”고 요구했다.

Park took issue with President Lee’s remarks during a luncheon with accompanying journalists in China regarding Chinese structures installed in the West Sea. Lee described the facilities as having “slightly crossed over the Chinese boundary” and characterized them as “aquaculture management facilities.”

 

According to Park, the president failed to clearly address whether the installations were illegal or whether they constituted an infringement on South Korea’s maritime sovereignty. “There was no strong protest, no demand for accountability, and no mention of a timeline or method for removal,” Park said.

 

He added that portraying the situation as an “agreement on facility removal” amounted to misleading the public, arguing that the president merely repeated China’s explanation without defending Korea’s sovereign rights.

 

■ Criticism of Media Signals “Submissive Diplomacy”

Park also condemned President Lee’s response to critical media coverage, noting that Lee accused some reports of “distortion.”

 

“At a time when national interests and sovereignty are at stake, the president chose to lecture the media instead of reassuring the public,” Park said. “This only exposes the reality of a low-posture, submissive diplomacy.”

 

■ Concerns Over Remarks on North Korea’s Nuclear Program

Park expressed grave concern over President Lee’s comments on North Korea’s nuclear weapons, in which Lee stated that Pyongyang would not agree to denuclearize in the current situation and suggested that halting further development could be a basis for negotiation and compensation.

 

“This is effectively a nuclear freeze or management approach that presupposes North Korea’s possession of nuclear weapons,” Park warned. “Such a stance would only buy time for the regime and institutionalize its nuclear capabilities.”

 

He emphasized that the remarks run counter to the international community’s long-standing principle of “complete denuclearization,” calling them “self-destructive statements on national security.”

 

■ “China’s Statement Silent on Denuclearization”

While the South Korean government claimed it had urged China to play a constructive role in resolving the North Korean nuclear issue, Park questioned the credibility of that assertion.

 

“The Chinese government’s official readout made no mention of the Korean Peninsula or denuclearization at all,” he said. “Yet the administration continues to offer excuses about requesting China’s mediation, even as the goal of denuclearization becomes increasingly blurred.”

 

■ “No Joint Statement, No Substance, No Gains”

Park concluded by criticizing the overall outcome of the state visit, saying it produced no joint statement, no concrete agreements, and no tangible diplomatic progress.

 

“What remains is not practical diplomacy, but a visit that amplified China’s narrative and even highlighted the promotion of a Chinese smartphone brand,” he said. “Acting as China’s spokesman on West Sea sovereignty while suggesting compromise based on North Korea’s nuclear possession raises serious questions about whether this diplomacy serves South Korea’s national interest.”

 

Park called on the government to clearly explain to the public “who truly benefited from this state visit.”
