[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산시는 울산광역시가 부산·경남 행정통합 논의에 동참하겠다는 뜻을 밝힌 데 대해 “크게 환영한다”고 밝혔다.  

부산시는 “수도권 일극체제에 대응하기 위해 부·울·경이 하나가 되어야 한다는 데 이견이 없다”며 “이번 울산시의 발표로 다시 한번 그 공감대를 확인할 수 있었다”고 강조했다.  

시는 앞으로 재정분권과 사무분권 등 ‘연방제 수준’의 권한 이양을 담은 특별법 제정과 더불어 주민투표를 통한 지역민의 직접적 의사 결정을 추진할 계획이다. 이를 통해 부산과 경남, 나아가 울산까지 아우르는 행정통합이 실질적이고 실효성 있게 진행되도록 준비해 나가겠다고 밝혔다.  

부산시는 “부울경이 하나로 힘을 모아야만 수도권 집중을 완화하고 대한민국 균형발전을 이끌 수 있다”며 “지방시대의 새로운 모델을 만드는 데 최선을 다하겠다”고 덧붙였다.

Busan Metropolitan City warmly welcomes Ulsan Metropolitan City’s announcement that it will join the discussions on administrative integration with Busan and South Gyeongsang Province.  

There is once again no disagreement that Busan, Ulsan and Gyeongnam must come together as one in order to respond to the current Seoul metropolitan area–centered structure.  

Going forward, Busan City will work to ensure that administrative integration encompassing Busan, Gyeongnam and, further, Ulsan is pursued in a practical and effective manner. To this end, the city will prepare for the enactment of a special law that provides for a federal-level transfer of powers, including fiscal decentralization and the devolution of administrative functions, as well as for direct decision-making by local residents through a referendum
