[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산시 보건환경연구원이 시민들이 거주 지역의 공기질을 보다 쉽게 확인할 수 있도록 ‘지역별 상세 대기질 예측지도 서비스’를 운영한다.  

그동안 부산의 대기정보는 시내 32개 측정소의 관측값에 의존해 제공돼 측정소가 없는 지역은 공기질을 확인하기 어려웠다. 연구원은 이런 한계를 보완하기 위해 첨단 예측 기술을 활용해 부산 전역을 1킬로미터 단위의 격자로 나누고, 모든 지역의 대기질을 분석해 지도 형태로 제공한다.  

예측지도는 복잡한 수치 대신 통합대기환경지수(CAI)를 기반으로 ‘좋음·보통·나쁨·매우 나쁨’의 4단계로 표현하며, 파랑·초록·노랑·빨강 색상으로 구분해 한눈에 공기 상태를 파악할 수 있다.  

시민들은 아파트, 학교 등 생활권 주변의 공기질을 1제곱킬로미터 단위로 확인할 수 있고, 당일부터 모레까지 3일간의 시간대별 예보도 함께 볼 수 있다.  

이 서비스는 보건환경연구원 정보공개시스템의 ‘환경정보–대기환경–대기질 예측지도’ 메뉴에서 이용 가능하다.  

이용주 부산시 보건환경연구원장은 “이번 서비스는 기존 관측자료와 예측기술을 활용해 자체 개발한 성과”라며 “시민들에게 실질적인 생활밀착형 대기정보를 제공해 건강관리와 야외활동 계획에 도움이 되길 바란다”고 말했다.

[Here’s the English version of the article]  Busan Launches Regional Air Quality Forecast Map Service

The Busan Institute of Health and Environment has launched a new “Regional Air Quality Forecast Map” service to help residents easily check air conditions in their neighborhoods.  

Until now, Busan’s air quality data relied on measurements from 32 monitoring stations across the city, leaving areas without nearby stations lacking accurate information. To address this gap, the institute applied advanced prediction technology to divide the city into one-kilometer grids, analyzing and visualizing air quality in every area.  

The map presents air quality using the Comprehensive Air Quality Index (CAI) instead of complex numerical values, classifying conditions into four levels — good, normal, bad, and very bad — represented by blue, green, yellow, and red colors for easier understanding.  

Residents can check air quality data for their vicinity, such as around schools or apartment complexes, and access hourly forecasts for three days, including the current day.  

The service is available on the institute’s information disclosure system under “Environmental Information – Air Environment – Air Quality Forecast Map.”  

Lee Yong-ju, director of the Busan Institute of Health and Environment, said the service was developed in-house using existing observation data and forecasting technology. He added that it is expected to provide practical, everyday air quality information to help citizens manage their health and plan outdoor activities.
