[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산의 교통체계를 획기적으로 바꿀 만덕~센텀 도시고속화도로가 10일 0시 전면 개통됐다.  

부산시는 9일 “내부순환도로망의 마지막 구간인 만덕~센텀 도시고속화도로 개통으로, 2001년 수립된 내부순환도로 계획이 25년 만에 완성된다”고 밝혔다. 이날 오후 2시 북구 만덕IC에서 열린 개통식에는 박형준 부산시장, 안성민 시의회 의장, 전재수·김미애·박성훈 국회의원, 국토교통부 대도시권광역교통위원장, 구청장 등 300여 명이 참석했다.  

만덕~센텀 도시고속화도로는 북구 만덕동에서 해운대구 재송동을 연결하는 총연장 9.62㎞, 왕복 4차로의 터널로 국내 최초로 모든 차량이 통행 가능한 대심도 지하도로다. 깊이 40m 이상 지하에 건설돼 지상 교통과 완전히 분리된 새로운 교통축 역할을 하며, 첨단 환기·배수·화재안전 시스템을 적용했다.  

이번 개통으로 만덕에서 센텀까지 이동 시간은 기존 41.8분에서 11.3분으로 30분 이상 단축된다. 부산시는 이를 통해 연간 통행비용 648억 원 절감, 생산유발효과 1조 2,332억 원, 고용유발 9,599명의 경제 효과가 기대된다고 설명했다.  

또한 충렬대로와 수영강변대로의 정체가 완화되고, 교통 효율성 향상으로 도심 대기질 개선과 에너지 절감, 생활권 확장 등 시민 삶의 질 향상 효과도 예상된다.

도로는 2월 19일부터 유료화되며, 출근(오전 7시~정오)과 퇴근(오후 4시~9시) 시간대 승용차 기준 통행료는 2,500원이다.  

박형준 부산시장은 “이번 개통은 부산 교통체계 전환의 상징적인 사업으로, 서부산의 물류·산업 인프라와 동부산의 관광·첨단산업을 빠르게 연결해 지역 경제에 활력을 불어넣을 것”이라며 “개통 후에도 교통과 안전 상황을 면밀히 관리해 시민들이 안전하게 이용할 수 있도록 하겠다”고 말했다.

The final section of Busan’s internal ring road, the Mandeok–Centum Urban Expressway, will fully open to traffic at midnight on Tuesday, marking the completion of the city’s long-awaited transportation network plan 25 years after it was first conceived.  

The city announced Monday that an opening ceremony was held earlier in the day at Mandeok Interchange with Mayor Park Heong-joon, Busan City Council Chair Ahn Sung-min, local lawmakers, and government officials in attendance.  

The new expressway runs 9.62 kilometers between Mandeok-dong in Buk-gu and Jaesong-dong in Haeundae-gu. It is the nation’s first deep underground road capable of accommodating all types of vehicles, built more than 40 meters below ground to create a new traffic axis completely separated from surface roads. Advanced ventilation, drainage, and fire safety systems enhance the safety and comfort of drivers, setting a new benchmark in Korean road engineering.  

With the opening, travel time between Mandeok and Centum City will be reduced from 41.8 minutes to about 11 minutes. The city expects annual savings of 64.8 billion won in transport costs, an induced production effect of 1.23 trillion won, and nearly 9,600 new jobs.  

The project is also expected to ease long-standing congestion along Chunyeol-daero and Suyeong riverside roads, improving air quality and energy efficiency while expanding residents’ living zones.  

Tolls will be collected starting Feb. 19, with passenger cars charged 2,500 won between Mandeok and Centum interchanges during peak hours — from 7 a.m. to noon and from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.  

“This project symbolizes a turning point in Busan’s transportation system,” Mayor Park said. “By linking the city’s industrial and logistics infrastructure in the west with tourism and high-tech hubs in the east, it will inject new vitality into Busan’s economy. We will continue to closely monitor traffic and safety conditions to ensure smooth and safe operations.”
