[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산진구에 거주하는 93세 유분한 여사가 남편 고(故) 이두영 씨와 함께 일궈온 전 재산인 자택을 부산대학교에 기부했다. 기부금은 의학 인재 양성을 위한 ‘두분장학재단’ 설립에 쓰일 예정이다.

평생의 보금자리, 대학 발전 위해 기증  

부산대학교는 25일 오전 대학본부 총장실에서 유분한 여사의 주택 기증식과 유언 공증식을 진행했다고 밝혔다.  

유 여사는 고 이두영 씨와 함께 마련한 부산진구 연지동의 주택(대지 172㎡, 건물 122.08㎡, 시가 약 5억2천만 원)을 대학과 지역사회 발전을 위해 기부하기로 했다. 그는 “남편과 함께 울고 웃던 집이 누군가의 배움의 터가 되기를 바란다”고 소감을 전했다.

‘두분장학재단’ 이름에 담긴 부부의 뜻  

부산대는 부부의 이름에서 각 한 글자씩을 따 ‘두분장학재단’을 설립하기로 했다. ‘두분’은 남편의 ‘두’ 자와 유 여사의 ‘분’ 자를 결합해, 평생의 동행과 사랑을 사회에 환원한 의미를 담았다. 재단 기금은 유 여사의 유고 이후 주택 매각으로 조성돼 의과대학 장학금과 연구기금으로 사용될 예정이다.

“미래 의료 인재 위한 헌신 기억하겠다”  

기증식에는 최재원 총장, 조원호 의과대학장, 장철훈 교수, 이희택 발전기금재단 사무국장 등이 참석했다. 유 여사 측에서는 동생 유원상 씨와 시동생 이기환 한국해양대 교수가 함께 자리했다.  

최재원 총장은 “두분장학재단은 부부의 따뜻한 삶과 사랑을 미래 세대를 키우는 씨앗으로 남길 것”이라고 감사의 뜻을 전했다.

Yoo Boon-han, a 93-year-old resident of Busan’s Jin District, has donated her lifelong home to Pusan National University (PNU) to establish a scholarship foundation supporting medical students. The donation, made in memory of her late husband Lee Doo-young, will fund the newly created “Dooboon Scholarship Foundation.”

A home turned into a legacy of learning  

Pusan National University announced on Feb. 25 that a donation and will certification ceremony was held at the university’s main office. Yoo decided to contribute her entire property — a two-story house in Yeonji-dong valued at about 520 million won — to support future generations of medical scholars.  

“I hope the home where my husband and I shared our lives will now serve as a place of learning and growth for others,” Yoo said.

“Dooboon” foundation named after the couple  

To honor her and her husband’s devotion, PNU will establish the “Dooboon Scholarship Foundation,” combining one syllable from each of their names — Lee *Doo-young* and Yoo *Boon-han*. The foundation symbolizes the couple’s lifelong companionship and commitment to giving back to society.  

After Yoo’s passing, the property will be sold, and the proceeds will go toward scholarships and research funds for students at PNU’s College of Medicine.

 A gift of compassion for future generations  

The ceremony was attended by PNU President Choi Jae-won, Dean of Medicine Cho Won-ho, Professor Jang Chul-hoon, and University Development Foundation official Lee Hee-taek. From the donor’s family, Yoo’s younger brother Yoo Won-sang and brother-in-law Lee Ki-hwan, a professor at Korea Maritime and Ocean University, were present.  

President Choi said, “The Dooboon Foundation will stand as a symbol of the couple’s warmth and generosity, nurturing the next generation of medical professionals with gratitude and service.”
