[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산시립미술관이 ‘이우환 공간’ 개관 10주년을 기념하며 미술과 음악의 경계를 넘나드는 특별한 연주회를 마련한다. 미술관은 오는 12월 14일 오후 5시 부산콘서트홀에서 기념 공연 ‘보는 소리, 듣는 빛’을 개최한다고 밝혔다.  

이우환 공간, 예술과 사유의 현장  

2015년 4월 문을 연 ‘이우환 공간’은 일본 나오시마에 이어 전 세계 두 번째로 조성된 이우환 미술관이다. 기본 설계부터 작품 배치, 사무 인테리어에 이르기까지 작가 이우환이 직접 디자인에 참여해 ‘공간 자체가 하나의 작품’으로 평가받는다. 지난 10년간 이곳은 ‘관계’와 ‘존재’에 대한 작가의 철학을 체험할 수 있는 부산의 상징적 문화공간으로 자리 잡았다.  

신예 작곡가의 헌정곡, ‘이우환의 정원’ 초연  

이번 연주회에서는 젊은 작곡가 이하느리가 이우환의 예술세계에서 영감을 받아 창작한 신작 <스터프 샵3(stuff#3)/이우환의 정원>이 첫선을 보인다. ‘스터프(stuff)’ 연작의 세 번째 작품인 이번 곡은 소리와 침묵, 반복과 변형이 교차하며 만들어내는 긴장감을 중심으로 ‘관계’의 본질을 탐구한다. 연주는 일본 현대음악 전문 앙상블 ‘앙상블 노마드’가 맡는다.  

고전과 현대를 잇는 세 가지 ‘관계’의 음악  

이외에도 모튼 펠트만의 <프로젝션 원(Projection I)>, 바흐의 <무반주 바이올린 소나타 1번>, 위르크 프라이의 <현악 4중주(Streichquartett)>가 무대를 채운다. 각각 청각의 여백과 집중, 악기 간 교감을 통해 ‘관계’에 대한 서로 다른 해석을 보여준다. 이 곡들은 ‘첼리스트 키타지마 아키’, ‘바이올리니스트 임지영’, 그리고 ‘화음챔버오케스트라’의 협연으로 선보인다.  

시민과 함께하는 예술의 자리  

이번 공연은 전석 무료로 진행되며, 사전 예약은 11월 25일 오후 2시부터 부산콘서트홀 누리집(classicbusan.busan.go.kr)에서 선착순 300명 한정으로 접수된다. 자세한 일정은 부산시립미술관 홈페이지(art.busan.go.kr)로 확인할 수 있다.  

서진석 부산시립미술관장은 “이번 연주회는 미술과 음악이 만나 새로운 예술적 대화를 펼치는 자리”라며 “개관 10주년을 기념하는 이우환 신작과 함께, 재개관 후 한층 풍성해진 전시로 시민을 맞이하겠다”고 말했다.  

[Below is an English news article] Busan Museum of Art marks 10th anniversary of ‘Lee Ufan Space’ with concert ‘Seeing Sound, Hearing Light’

The Busan Museum of Art will host a special concert on Dec. 14 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Lee Ufan Space, a gallery dedicated to the world-renowned artist’s philosophy of relationship and existence. The performance, titled “Seeing Sound, Hearing Light,” will begin at 5 p.m. at the Busan Concert Hall.  

Opened in April 2015, the Lee Ufan Space is the second museum devoted to the artist after the site in Naoshima, Japan. Lee personally took part in the design, from the architecture to the placement of artworks and furniture, creating a space that embodies his minimalist aesthetics.  

The concert will feature the premiere of *Stuff#3 / Lee Ufan’s Garden* by emerging composer Lee Haneuri. The work, inspired by Lee Ufan’s artistic themes, explores tension between sound and silence through repetition and variation. It will be performed by the Japanese contemporary music ensemble Ensemble Nomad.  

Other selections include Morton Feldman’s *Projection I*, Bach’s *Sonata for Solo Violin No. 1*, and Jürg Frey’s *String Quartet*. The program examines the idea of “relationship” through different musical languages, performed by cellist Aki Kitajima, violinist Lim Ji-young, and the Harmony Chamber Orchestra.

Museum director Seo Jin-seok said the concert aims to bring visual art and music together for a broader artistic dialogue. “As we celebrate the 10th anniversary of Lee Ufan Space, we will also present new work by the artist and reopen the main building with richer exhibitions,” Seo said.
