[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산문화재단이 대만의 핵심 문화예술 기관들과 손을 잡고 아시아 문화 교류 거점 확대에 나선다.

재단은 지난 4일부터 나흘간 대만을 방문해 타이베이문화재단 및 가오슝 피어2 아트센터(Pier-2 Art Center)와 업무협약(MOU)을 체결했다고 밝혔다. 이번 방문은 부산-타이베이-가오슝을 잇는 지속 가능한 예술 협력 체계를 구축하기 위해 추진됐다.

주요 협약 내용 및 기관별 역할

타이베이문화재단: 송산문화창의공원, 타이베이 현대예술관(MoCA), 트레저 힐 아티스트 빌리지(THAV) 등 15개 기관을 운영하는 타이베이의 핵심 문화 허브다. 이번 협약으로 기존 사업 단위의 협력을 '재단 대 재단'의 기관 차원으로 격상했다.

가오슝 피어2 아트센터: 부산의 자매도시인 가오슝의 대표적 공공 예술 플랫폼이다. 양 기관은 예술가 레지던시와 국제교류 프로그램 운영에 합의했으며, 올해 하반기 부산 원도심창작공간 ‘또따또가’를 중심으로 작가 교환 및 페스티벌 참여 등 실질적 교류를 시작한다.

지역적 의미와 향후 계획

이번 협력은 '부산항 개항 150주년'을 앞두고 자매도시인 가오슝을 포함한 대만 주요 해양 도시들과의 문화적 연결고리를 강화했다는 점에서 의미가 크다.

오재환 부산문화재단 대표는 “부산-타이베이-가오슝을 잇는 실질적인 국제 예술 교류 체계를 구축했다”며 “앞으로도 예술가 중심의 글로벌 교류 모델을 지속적으로 확장해 나갈 것”이라고 강조했다.

재단은 ‘비전 2035’ 전략에 따라 아시아 주요 해양도시를 잇는 글로벌 네트워크를 확대하고, 국제 레지던시 등 단계별 협력 사업을 추진할 방침이다.

=Strategic MOUs signed to foster artist residencies and maritime cultural exchange

 The Busan Cultural Foundation (BCF) is strengthening its strategic partnerships with Taiwan’s leading cultural institutions to establish a major hub for Asian arts exchange.

A delegation led by BCF CEO Oh Jae-hwan visited Taiwan for four days starting February 4 to sign Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) with the Taipei Culture Foundation and the Pier-2 Art Center in Kaohsiung. The move aims to create a sustainable cooperation model linking the three major cities.

Key Partnerships and Scope of Cooperation

The agreements transition previous project-based collaborations into formal institutional partnerships, focusing on three main areas:

Taipei Culture Foundation: As the operator of 15 major venues—including the Museum of Contemporary Art (MoCA) Taipei and Treasure Hill Artist Village (THAV)—the foundation will expand its existing residency and arts education programs with BCF into a comprehensive city-to-city exchange.

Pier-2 Art Center (Kaohsiung): Located in Busan’s sister city, this premier public arts platform will launch practical exchange initiatives starting in the second half of this year. These include artist exchange residencies and festival participation centered around Busan’s "Totatoga" creative space in the old city center.

Strengthening Maritime Cultural Ties

The timing of these agreements is particularly significant as Busan approaches the **150th anniversary of the opening of its port**. By connecting with Taipei and Kaohsiung, BCF is opening new doors for collaboration among Asia's representative maritime cultural cities.

"This visit has successfully established a practical international arts cooperation system linking Busan, Taipei, and Kaohsiung," said Oh Jae-hwan, CEO of the Busan Cultural Foundation. "We will continue to expand our artist-centered global exchange models by strengthening ties with major cultural hubs across Asia."

Under its  Vision 2035 strategy, the Busan Cultural Foundation plans to systematically broaden its global network, focusing on maritime city alliances and phased international residency programs.
