[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산시가 24일 오전 시민공원 내에 영유아 전용 실내 놀이공간 ‘당신처럼 애지중지 공공형 키즈카페’를 개소했다. 이는 부산형 육아 정책 브랜드 ‘당신처럼 애지중지’의 첫 결실로, 부모와 아이가 함께 즐길 수 있는 공공형 돌봄 공간으로 조성됐다.  

 

이번 사업은 부산시와 BNK부산은행, 초록우산 어린이재단 부산지역본부가 지난해 업무협약을 맺고 지원한 결과다. 시는 구(舊) 뽀로로도서관 건물을 전면 리모델링해 키즈카페로 새 단장했다. 지난해 12월 시범운영을 시작해 하루 평균 140여 명이 방문했다.  

 

역사공간을 시민 품으로  

건물은 과거 미군 하야리아 캠프 시절 군인 숙소로 사용된 역사보존지구 내 시설이다. 시는 원형 보존을 위해 국가유산위원회 전문가와 협의해 리모델링을 진행했다. 외관은 공원의 풍경과 클래식부산 건축물과 조화를 이루도록 곡선 형태로 설계됐으며, ‘뽀로로’와 시 공식 캐릭터 ‘부기’ 포토존이 영유아 공간임을 상징한다.  

 

아이와 부모를 위한 맞춤 공간  

내부는 ‘숲속 탐험’을 콘셉트로 꾸며졌으며, 감각놀이와 신체활동을 유도하는 ▲쫑긋쫑긋 소리문 ▲오르락내리락 숲 모험터 ▲소리모아 숲 무대 등 세 가지 테마 공간으로 구성됐다. 또한 수유실, 가족화장실, 상담실 등 영유아 가족 친화 시설이 갖춰져 있다.

체험 프로그램·상담 지원 운영  

키즈카페는 부모-자녀 참여형 만들기와 오감놀이 등 프로그램을 정기 운영한다. 전문 강사와 함께 진행되는 오감놀이 프로그램은 클래식부산과 연계해 확대될 예정이다. 이외에도 육아 전문 상담실을 통해 심리상담 및 발달단계별 맞춤 정보를 제공한다.  

 

무료 이용·예약제 운영  

이용 대상은 0~5세 영유아와 부모로, 무료로 이용할 수 있다. 월요일을 제외한 주 6일(09:30~17:30) 하루 4회 운영하며, 설‧추석 등 법정공휴일에는 휴관한다. 이용자는 홈페이지(bcsc.kr/kc2/index.php)에서 예약하거나 현장에서 접수할 수 있다.  

 

2호점 남구에 연내 개소 예정  

부산시는 시민공원점을 시작으로, 올해 하반기 남구 폐원 어린이집을 활용한 2호점을 개소할 계획이다. 박형준 부산시장은 “키즈카페가 아이들에게는 상상력과 감성을 키우는 공간, 부모에게는 쉼터가 되길 바란다”며 “유휴공간을 활용해 공공형 키즈카페를 지속 확대하고, 부모 지원과 상담 기능을 강화하겠다”고 밝혔다.

박형준 시장은 “부산시민공원이라는 상징적인 공간에 영유아 전용 공공형 키즈카페를 개소하게 되어 매우 뜻깊게 생각한다”라며, “이곳이 단순한 놀이공간을 넘어 아이들에게는 상상력과 감성을 키우는 배움의 공간이 되고, 부모에게는 서로의 육아 경험을 나누며 잠시 숨을 고를 수 있는 따뜻한 쉼터가 되길 바란다”라고 전했다.

 

이어 “우리시는 '아이 낳고 키우기 좋은 도시'로 도약하기 위해 돌봄·보육·주거·교육 전반에 걸쳐 촘촘한 지원체계를 구축해 나가고 있다. 앞으로도 유휴공간을 적극 활용해 공공형 키즈카페를 지속 확충하고, 양육자 지원 프로그램과 전문 상담 기능을 강화해 '아이와 부모가 함께 행복한 도시 부산'을 실현해 나가겠다”라고 밝혔다.

The city of Busan opened the “Like You, Cherished Public Kids Café” on Monday at Busan Citizens Park, providing a dedicated indoor playground for infants and toddlers. The new space marks the first achievement under the city’s signature childcare policy brand, *“Like You, Cherished,”* aimed at making Busan a more family-friendly city.  

 

First Milestone of Busan’s Childcare Initiative  

The project was launched through a partnership among the city government, BNK Busan Bank, and ChildFund Korea’s Busan branch. The facility was renovated from the former Pororo Library building inside the park. After a trial run starting last December, the café recorded an average of about 140 visitors per day.  

 

Preserving History in a New Form  

Located in a designated heritage zone, the building once served as military housing during the U.S. Hialeah Camp era. To preserve its historical features, Busan remodeled the site under the guidance of the National Heritage Committee. The exterior’s curved design harmonizes with the park’s scenery and the nearby *Classic Busan* cultural complex, while photo zones featuring popular characters *Pororo* and the city’s mascot *Boogi* highlight its child-friendly identity.  

 

A Space for Play and Rest  

The interior follows a “Forest Adventure” theme, centering on sensory and physical play areas. The main play zones include *“Sound Forest,” “Forest Adventure Climb,”* and *“Sound Stage in the Woods.”* Family-friendly amenities such as nursing rooms, family restrooms, and counseling spaces are also available.  

 

Programs and Parental Support  

The café offers a variety of programs, including hands-on crafts, parent-child activities, and sensory play workshops led by professional instructors. Linked programs with *Classic Busan* are being developed. A dedicated counseling room will provide childcare advice, psychological consultation, and development-stage guidance.  

 

Free Admission and Easy Reservation  

The café is open free of charge to children aged 0–5 and their parents, from Tuesday to Sunday (9:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.), with four sessions per day. It closes on national holidays, New Year’s Day, and other designated days. Reservations can be made online at [bcsc.kr/kc2/index.php](http://bcsc.kr/kc2/index.php) or on-site.  

 

Expansion Plan Ahead  

Busan plans to open a second *Like You, Cherished Kids Café* in Nam-gu later this year by repurposing a closed daycare center. Mayor Park Heong-joon said, “This space will not only be a playground but also a place where children nurture creativity and parents find comfort.” He added, “We will continue expanding public childcare spaces and strengthen support programs to make Busan a city where both children and parents can thrive together.”  

 

Mayor Park Heong-joon said, “It is deeply meaningful to open a public kids’ café exclusively for infants and toddlers in such a symbolic space as Busan Citizens Park. I hope this place becomes more than just a play area—serving as a learning space that nurtures imagination and emotional growth for children, and a warm haven where parents can share their childcare experiences and take a moment to rest.”  

 

 He added, “Busan is building a comprehensive support system across childcare, education, housing, and care services to become a city where raising children is a joy, not a burden. We will continue to make active use of idle spaces to expand public kids’ cafés, strengthen parenting support programs and professional counseling services, and realize a Busan where children and parents can thrive together.”
